Parody Song Title:

"Vogon Poetry"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

The Lyrics

Oh freddled gruntbuggly
Thy micturations are to me
As plurdled gabbleblotchits
On a lurgid bee.
Groop I implore thee
Hooptiously drangle me
It's Vogon poetry
Vogon poetry

My foonting turnlingdromes imploring
Drangled with crinkly bindlewurdles
Or I will rend thee
In the gobberwarts
With my blurglecruncheon
(Which, methinks, must be some kind of truncheon)

Chorus:
It's poetry again from Vogo-ow-owns
The third worst the universe has known,
Like a prostetnic Jeltz will make you groan
It ain't too late to see
How bad his poetry can be

Well, it has particularly effective
Metaphysical imagery
And, er, interesting
Rhythmic devices
Counterpointing the surr-
Ealism of the underlying metaphor

Chorus

It's poetry again,
Poetry again,
Poetry again,
Poetr... aaarrrgh!

And it ain't nice to hear
With a Babel fish in your ear

It's poetry again from Vogo-ow-owns
The third worst the universe has known,
Like a prostetnic Jeltz will make you groan
It ain't too late to see
How bad his poetry can be

It's poetry again from Vogo-ow-owns
The third worst the universe has known,
Like a prostetnic Jeltz will make you groan
And it ain't nice to hear
With a Babel fish in your ear

It's poetry again,
Poetry again,
Poetry again,
Poetr... aaarrrgh!

Poetry again...

Now Earthlings ... I present you with a simple choice! Either die in the vacuum of space, or ... (pause for melodramatic effect) tell me how good you thought my parody was..

I'm most impressed, Philbo Beeblebrox! Some toe-curlingly awful wordage, to the tune of an OS I hate! But, of course, I love it...masochist that I am. 555

Well, I didn't thinb it possible, Phil, but this read twisted my brain...see what you have done to me? But I'm DKTOS on the Original so I didn't vote...

Thanks, all. Must admit that I'd love to hear David Coverdale singing this version...
Kristof - most of the appalling wordage is a quote from the original, and I couldn't do much about it, I'm afraid ;-) After all, Vogon poetry is the third worst in the known universe.
Red Ant - June 29, 2005 - Report this comment
This is only the 2nd Whitesnake 80s parody here? I know this OS fairly well, and happen to like it ( perhaps I'm remembering a young Tawni Kittaen ) and like this parody. 5s.

Looks like it, Red Ant... and no prizes for guessing who did the first one, either ;-)

I have my suspicions that Tori Amos is not actually part Cherokee, but possibly of Vogon ancestry! It could explain the frantic quality of 'Heart Of Gold' on 'Strange Little Girls'- she's pissed off that Zaphod Beeblebrox and chums escaped.

I can see that I've already commented on this one once, but thanks to Red Ant's comment I now see something that passed me like an underlying metaphor the first time: This was only the second Whitesnake parody ever (and up until my parody today it was still only the second!) Quite amazing, they had a bunch of hits and semi-hits.

I htought that the combination of vogons and whitesnake was inspired...
