The Lyrics

I see a million songs
Trashed by Bill Tong tonight
His jabs are really low
How far left can he go?
The words he uses are wrong
They're not reality
As says his every song
"Down with the GOP"

Trash 'em up - put down
Trash 'em up - put 'em down to the ground
Trash 'em up - put down
Trash 'em up - there is no meaning in his words

Everybody be wrong tonight
Everybody be wrong tonight
Everybody Bill Tong tonight
Everybody be wrong tonight
Everybody Bill Tong tonight
Everybody be wrong

Republicans tonight
He beats into the ground
I need some No-Doz
He's just like Jerry Brown

Trash 'em up - put down
Trash 'em up - put 'em down to the ground
Trash 'em up - put down
Trash 'em up - there is no meaning in his words

Everybody be wrong tonight
Everybody be wrong tonight
Everybody Bill Tong tonight
Everybody be wrong tonight
Everybody Bill Tong tonight
Everybody be wrong

On the edge of democracy
Well, Bill Tong is hypocracy
His brand of humor will not last
A ship of fools sinking fast

Across the nation, around the world
Everybody be wrong tonight
Misinformation, so spread the word

Everybody be wrong tonight
Everybody be wrong tonight
Everybody Bill Tong tonight
Everybody be wrong tonight
Everybody Bill Tong tonight

Whatever happened to the rule of no trashing anyone by name? (I'm a fine one to talk because my first parody was an anti-Tonger as well, you can look it up if you want, but that was a) before the rule, and b) when I was new to the site.) Ridicule anyone's views - have at it, even if they're mine, and I've been the object as well as the perpetrator (the archives will confirm that too) - but try not to make it personal, especially if he has the guts to use (what I assume is) his real name, which is more chutzpah than I ever had.

Bubba did say Tong was wrong, but that is Bubba's opinion. IMHO, Tong has been dead-on about Trent Lott.

As are most of my paradies, my criticism of Bill Tong is intended to be "tongue-in-cheek." Personally, I find most of his paradies funny and to the point. True, I don't share his political views, but I admire his dedication to his beliefs.

You didn't preface your parody to say it was tongue in cheek, but all in good fun, I always answer back with one in kind. Here's my reply parody to you, posted at my web site, "Bubba, Don't Screech" at http://bootnewt.tripod.com/bubbadontscreech.htm - which will probably get posted at Amiright by Chuck on Monday. Thanks for the "joust." :-)

William, I looked at your reply parody - very clever indeed! Fair is fair, I can take it as well as dish it out - and I promise not to direct any future parodies at you, or any other poster (although, until Campaign '04 begins, there aren't a lot of visible Democrats to parody). I was raised by dyed-in-the-wool Democratic parents, and my own brother-in-law is a State Democratic Committeeman in his state, so we have lively banter even within our own family. And "Dubya" definitely is good parody fodder, as most of our Presidents have been. Sorry if I offended.

Site searched for parodies written by Christie: Zero, which is about the same as your credibility and "talent."

I didn't think this one was "an attack parody" when I approved it.. but I've been sick for the past week, so my review of parodies hasn't been up to my usual standards either.. but if Bill's ok with it, I am too, and this one can stay...
Bill Tong - December 30, 2002 - Report this comment
It's okay, Chuck. We're both even, and it looks like Bubba and I are cool about it. Thanks.

I just recently swung to the left because of Bush's mishandling of Iraq (yes, I do mean mishandling), so Bill Tong's songs are the plain truth for me. The man is a natural and if he allowed comments on his parodies, I'd give them all 5's if I could. As for this parody, it was a great one, and it just shows that parody should work both ways and it does here. Mentioning Tong's name was probably not wise, but just don't do it again in the future. Oh, and Mr. Tong, if I could get your e-mail address, I might be able to think up titles for more great parodies, even though I'm not a songwriter myself.

Thanks, Eric. I do take political parody suggestions, and I give credit for them when they're finished and posted. wtong@earthlink.net

I was planning on doing crunches tonight, but this song made me laugh so hard I won't need to for the next year or so.
Guy DiRito - August 10, 2003 - Report this comment
Isn't it coincidental that Chuck and Bill both like to empahsize their stress on a point by putting the phrase or word in "QUOTES"? This could possibly lead one to believe that they are one and the same. Would explain why William never allows comments. Ya think? Just an observation.
ChuckyG - August 11, 2003 - Report this comment
That's an interesting theory, but not one that will ultimately pan out >grin<
Guy DiRito - August 11, 2003 - Report this comment
I never called it a "Theory". I called it an "Observation" and that is all. >chagrin< :D

Right on about Bill... although he's as wrong as humanly possible about the GOP, I have to admire the fact that he has the time to make all these parodies :)
Jay W - February 24, 2004 - Report this comment
I like most of Bill Tong's stuff, but this is very clever.

Although I agree with Bill Tong's views, this pardoy is really good.
