The Lyrics

Mari has this problem.....
Comin' in fast from other countries
Just trying' to fit in
Makin' a pledge to roll with problems
Get a thicker skin

"Whatten U. Lichtengottarwhey"

Sometimes you lose your cool
When everybody blows your name
And your language ain't the same
You wanna be in the U.S.
You only have you to blame
So suck it up
When everybody blows your name

You ought to know that we don't know
Words that aren't very plain
Go with the flow
When everybody blows your name

Funny, Rick. Sadly, I have this problem and my name is totally Americanized and what I consider to be normal. But my entire junior year of high school my History teacher mispronounced it. THE WHOLE YEAR! 5s...=)

GREAT one, Rick.

I work with a lot of people from other countries, and several of them have names that I can't even begin to pronounce. One day I was talking on the phone to a gentleman with a particularly difficult name. I asked him if he would tell me how to pronounce it, and he said no. Seriously. He refused to tell me how to pronounce his name, and he was livid that I didn't know. And his name was something like Mkpjwvanpglirybna. I couldn't believe it...

Rick, you know what I think. Ash, did that man on the phone know Superman? Arwen, your history teacher needed a hearing aid. Believe it or not, Rick (whose name is as normal as he is not) was listed on one music web site as "Luke."

I have the opposite "problem". I work as a medical transcriptionist and not all doctors here in Sweden are Swedish, though by law they have to document their medical deeds in our language. They´re all really nice people and try very hard and so far I´ve had to master to understand accentidents in Danish, German, Finnish, Lituanian, Islandish, Polish, Iraqiue, Iran...isomething and Syriani, and those are just the once I know where they come from. I love my job. No, really, I do love my job. Sometimes their accentidents turn out to be 50% of a new rhyme that will show up here. :-)

Rick - Good job. I can't think of anybody ever messing up my name, except me, before I stopped drinking, but my late brother once got a piece of computer-generated junk-mail from a bank that was addressed to and started: "Dear Mr. Ribibsib," - in the early days of mail-merge programs. He kept that in his desk drawer, I think his daughter has it now. Fives for you , Mr. Druncan...And say "Hi" to Hari....
