The Lyrics

another Tom Petty OS - I usually don't post for the weekend anymore, but I forgot to send this one in last night.
[instrumental intro]

Oh, save me, 'cause I'm in some deep trouble right now
Yeah, I'm freaked-out so bad; I can't scream
Man, I didn't know it might happen like this
Never been so frightened; soon I might not exist
Guess I should have known better than to go for a dip
Don't see no one around; guess I'm in some deep sh*t

I said
"Oy vey" (Oy vey)
"Damn, Oy vey, man"

Out sailing
Now here comes a shark
Guess this dip was not too smart
I'm seeing my fate
It's looking very dark
I'm flailing
And here comes that shark
[to lead guitar notes] {Oh, man I think that I'm farked}

Well, yeah, I had some "chaser's" then thought '"swimmin', that's fun"
Oh, now I realize that was dumb
Yeah, guess I should have known and then understood
But my head was f*cked up; I was in a cloud
Like a dope I went swimmin', for cryin' out loud
I'm seein' those shark fins, yeah, I see his grin

Damn, I pled
"Oy vey" (Oy vey)
In dismay

I'm praying
Praying really hard
That I don't get killed by a shark
I think that his bite
Is worse than his bark
I'm shaking
And here comes that shark
{I'm farked}

Oh, hope he don't kill me, I say
Hope that I don't get chewed
He's gonna kill me; Save me!
It looks like I am screwed
Might be his dinner
Or appetizer
This has gone much too far
Soon gonna be shark food

[instrumental break]
{Looks like soon I will be shark food}
{Oh, dammit man, that's screwed}
{As for my future – sure don't look good}
{I'd stay on dry land – if only I could}

Oy vey (I say)
"Damn, Oy vey, man"

I'm wailing
And it's getting dark
Imagery for this; quite stark
I feel like shark bait
And here's the worst part
Behind him comes another shark

Heart's failing
And here come those sharks
[Frantic, high-pitched screams of terror and agony]

[instrumentals out to fade]

[More terrified and agonized high-pitched screams in background]

Now here come those sharks

OH-OH, OH, NONO
[Still more terrified/agonized screams]

Devoured, eaten bythosesharks
[Distant, fading screams to end]

Good thing your sharks have disarticulatable jaws to chow down on these huge, meaty fives! (The end was chilling, but at least it was a happy ending... for the sharks!)

Just think - you could sing this song in a perfect soprano before the final bite - heh heh...

I don't know the song, Paul, but this looks like a hard one with the odd rhyme scheme. Funny read.

TJC, yeah...someone's loss if often someone's(or someTHING's) gain. Mer - yeah, absolutely...a scream a second at the very end...PMS - Thanks! Red - yeah, a bit of an odd rhyme scheme, the chorus is pretty consistent, but the verses have that very "Tom Petty-esque" quality of words kind of crammed together quickly to squeeze into each line...sometimes more syllables than his earlier verses to the same pace and music...but it was fun to create this scenario...Pat, I thought I sent you an audio file...oops...alvin, well...farkin' thanks, dude...lol...those were my favorite add-on lyrics of the week, I think...
