Thank you for saluting my birthplace. A few years back, I parodied Tina Turner's "Nutbush" as "Horseheads", which is just north of Elmira.

5s for you AFW. I must say though, whilst being familiar with the fact that the Oak Ridge Boys were a band, that was the some extent of my knowledge, so I watched a Youtube clip of Elvira. Ummm..they certainly were a 'ecclectic' collection of lads, weren't they? First thing in the morning was a bit of culture shock for me :)

Just like Peregrin, I had the peripheral knowledge but needed to watch the video and rewrap my brain around the song. At least I have the weekend to purge the memory.
As to the parody, like you've said before, it's amazing what you'll learn on this site, and now I know where Elmira is. Sounds like a nice, friendly place.

Pretty good work, AFW... I was at a place called Elmira, Oregon, when there was a huge collection of literally everything possible either free or cheap (filled a U-haul with stuff that I sold on eBay and at places that included my work), nice place, very small, with one store, one gas station, two stoplights, a few farms and a lot of houses. Never been to Elmira, NY. 5s.
