The Lyrics

He puts the "duh" in "W"
A deception or fact? Just what are you trying to say?
You've got a blank face, which irritates
Communicate, just learn your language, please
You say "dementions" when you
Try to speak of left and right
And with one little talk, laughing stock, grit my teeth
No one can under-stand your speech
Why can't you

Learn how to say... say what you mean
One word leads to a blunder
You're saying something wrong, it's just two syllables long, Egads!
One word leads to a blunder

Word invention, how's it spelled?
I can't figure out what you meant
And the wrong words, don't you see
Give the comics something to jeer
You mess it up, dress it up well you're running out of time
You'd better get on the ball
And when one little flub starts it off, miss a beat
Another "blunderific" feat, why can't you

Learn how to say, say what you mean
One word leads to a blunder
You're saying something wrong, it's just two syllables long, Egads!
One word leads to a blunder
One word leads to a blunder

You're not easy to believe
Maybe you've been lying to me
'Cause when your wrong words
Go into my ears
Dunno what you've been saying to me
It could be fluff, could be stuff, you didn't say it clear enough
Big words that aren't at all
And when you share "antidotes", I wanna scream "antidon't"
Another blunder? What a feat! Why can't you

Learn how to say, say what you mean
One word leads to a blunder
You're saying something wrong
It's just two syllables long, how sad
One word leads to a blunder
One word leads to a blunder (repeat)

Good job! I'm surprised no one commented yet.

Thanks Suzie! Yeah, I was a little surprised, too. It's taken awhile to get this many votes, too. I guess the original was just more obscure or forgotten than I thought it would be.

Good Job!

Thanks Diva!

No, this song isn't that obscure; it came out 20 years ago. Even though I was only 3 when it came out, I don't even think I heard it for the first time till I was in my teens. Anyway, this was excellent. Perfect score.

I liked it as well! 5-5-5

Thanks Nally! Glad you enjoyed it! I was in high school when it came out and it was one of my favorites (still is.)

What about me? Nally commented and you thanked him, but you seem to have overlooked my comment. ::)

Ellipsis, Thank you, too! Sorry about that! I wasn't ignoring you. Your comment wasn't there, yet, when I opened this page, before and I've been snatching a few spare seconds of monitor time, here and there, as I can get it, so quite a bit of time elapsed between my opening the page and getting a chance to respond.

I was hoping to see "nuculer" somewhere in the song. I was at a conference where he mispronounced it, speaking in front of 500 high level biologists. This is my favorite song of your so far, although I'm biased based on W-isms, and I love the song by the Fixx.

"And when you share "antidotes", I wanna scream "antidon't"" This was my favorite line! I think it'd be a great idea for a song to focus on all his misspeaks (strategerize, antidotes/antidon't, nuculer/nuclear). With your permission, of course =) Or we could try a duet sometime =)
Melhi - December 09, 2003 - Report this comment
Feel free, Jeff -- I look forward to seeing what you come up with and I'm pretty sure there's enough material in that idea for a whole album or maybe even an entire catalog of albums! (Hee hee) If you do want to try a duet, sometime, remind me some time after the Holly-daze and we'll see if we can find a good idea and song that works well for both of us. :)

I just thought I'd look for a parody that's been around here for awhile...this one seemed like a good choice to me. You did a wonderful job with this; I liked it. :) I know the original quite well; like nally said, it's not all that obscure at all. I was in third grade at the time it came out, and I've been hearing it on the radio a lot during the past two decades. Anyway, I'm giving it 5-5-5.

You're right...it was one of their biggest hits. I liked this parody too.
