JIN - Since the term Native American is now part of our culture, I was not surprised when, watching some little kids playing Cowboys and "Indians", the young buckaroos immediately outsourced the other side to Mumbai. Good job and a fitting homage, but watch out for the P.C. Police. ;D

*smile* Same here at this side of the Pond - when I first saw the name of the song I thought about speakers of Urdu, Gujarati, Hindi and other Indo-Aryan languages written on funny-looking alphabet. Still, well done!

Thank you everyone, for your votes and / or comments! With the exceptions of "(To-t-em)" and "(We-Doh-No!)" all the rest of the words in parenthesis are actual Native American words that Native Americans speak. Also, some of the words like "papoose" and "squaw" in the verses, as well as the names of actual tribes are also Native American related too. Yes, I went to a lot of trouble looking up all these tribes and their dialog for this song! Wow! I'm going to be speaking it in my sleep! LOL! :-D But a BIG thanks to all the voters and commenters, a BIG amount of appreciation I feel from all this positive feedback! :-) -WCJ-

(SOTM) My favorite of your's so far. Lots of info portrayed in a fantastically fun way. Like it's been said though, the P.C. grubbers may nail you on this one, but I liked it :).

SOTM: To me, the pacing was off in a couple places, and unfortunately, as part Cherokee I didn't think it was incredibly funny. Nice idea but the title and execution kinda ruined it for me. I don't mean to bash on you, I think you're a good writer but I'm not a fan of this one.

Blaydeman: Thanks for saying my parody is your favorite! It took lots of time and work, as most all my parodies do, Abbott Skelding: Your comment is O.K. I do understand that this might be offensive to those of part or all of Native American religions. Kinda reminds me a little bit of Weird Al's "Amish Paradise" He not only kinda insulted the Amish in that one, but also got in trouble with the original artist Coolio too. :-o So I'll try to be a little more careful about what I what concerning other races, religions, etc. in the future. :-) Thanks again everyone so far! :-) -WCJ-

A couple of notes to mention for you: I'll start with your "Amish Paradise" comparison. Weird Al did not get in trouble with Coolio, Coolio started something because he thought his song was above parody, (some stars really do have an oversize head I'm afraid), but Weird Al did have permission to do the song AND Coolio had been accepting and continued to accept the checks that Al's label paid out for his share of the revenue from said song.

That said, Amish Paradise is a smart comparison to bring up, certainly Weird Al poked fun at the Amish, and he did so without coming off as overly offensive. He didn't say things that were blatantly untrue. . .and I am quick to jump on those who do, which brings me to my one big problem here-and only really big problem--the use of the word "Indian". . .An Indian is a person who lives in India, it was mistakenly given to the Native Americans by explorers from Europe, and somehow stuck in many children and adult minds a like. . .I realize that makes it harder to title, but that really is where the mess up here comes. . .Perhaps choosing a particular Tribe to be less broad with the topic such as Cherokee, Missouri, Sioux etc, and substitute that (IE Talk like the Missouri). . .its less likely to come off wrong footed, then put in the intro section or outro section (above or below the song) a disclaimer showing you don't intend to offend anyone.

Now, one last important thing for me, in your reply to Abbott, you stated "I'll try to be a little more careful about what I [write] concerning other races, religions. . ." I do hope you do not mean that you'll avoid the topics, you don't have to. Religion can be funny, Politics CAN be funny, most things can be funny (though there are certain topics that are very difficult to make funny including Race, Religion, Politics, and the like) Just be careful with how you approach it if you do so. . .or don't that's up to you, you'll just alienate some people if you aren't sensitive towards others who may practice, believe, or be what you are poking fun at. . .but I never agree that you should shelf a topic because it might offend someone, as you mentioned, Amish Paradise is an example of someone picking on a religious group--without offending anyone, what songs would Weird Al have left. . .not many, certainly none of his big hits were without poking fun at someone--that's part of humor--don't give that up. This was fairly well written WCJ all things considered, if you continue to read other people's work in these contest you'll see yourself develop this craft much further. . .I hope my rambling comes across as I intend it--this is not a terrible parody. . .it's not the most offensive thing I've seen by a long shot on this site, hell I've read another contest entrant this month in one of many contests that was far more insulting to a particular class of people than this is. . .kudos

Dave writing an essay was probably never a problem for you in school... Haha. You could write a book on a parody if you really wanted to. Anyways, I agree with a lot of Dave's and in turn Abbott's points on this one. From the get-go I found Indian to be racist and insensitive (although they have been called that by a lot of people without knowledge of the fact that it's incorrect). I've read a few of your parodies and for the most part they have been good but I can't really stand behind this one. Sorry pal. I've written a few offensive parodies myself. I deleted one recently because it mocked drag queens saying that they are an embarrassment to their parents and I also got in a lot of trouble by saying that jewish people attend mass (which I found out the hard way is certainly not true). I can understand how a simple mistake in knowledge can cause a lot of controversy without any intention of doing so.

You are right Matthias, and I did not mean to intentionally insult any one race, religion, etc. here like I think I've mentioned. You were right about the word "Indian" I did not know that it was insulting to the Native Americans, or I would have taken this parody in a totally different direction. :-( Probably like Dave suggested, mentioning a specific tribe, and using a disclaimer. But that's something I'll try to remember, when doing future parodies like these. ;-) Thanks all for the votes and comments! -WCJ- :-)

I just want to add my 2 cents here in a way that's easy to understand. The term "Indian" is confusing to many people. Native Americans have also been called "American Indians" or sometimes "Red Indians" to avoid confusion with the people of India. Also, I've been on reservations in the U.S. and Canada. Many nations were in large confederations. The first reservation I've ever visited was one of the Cherokee in North Carolina. There you could see innovative devices like fish traps and bear traps and log cabins. Some of the cultural traits you mention were real but there were much more to the Native Americans than the usual stereotypes. Your parody isn't really offensive as much as it's a bit ignorant. Still, nice try.

(SOTM) Thanks for the culture lesson, man, I now know more about the Native Americans than I ever did! Though that's not hard seeing as they're not a topic that's brought up a lot in Australia...anyway, nicely written parody here. I can't comment on the offensiveness as a) everyone else has that covered and b) I wouldn't know anything about it (like I said, Australian). In short: pacing was great, but the topic was something I wasn't really aware about given my location, so I couldn't really get into it.
