"Part Time Nazi"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

From nine to five in black jackboots
Black leather coat and thing that shoots
A swastika band on arm - he's part-time nazi
When clock hits five he'll blink the lights
He'll head to home his wife for night
He's just another goon - a part-time nazi

He is just another mindless Party pawn
waking straight up, going work at dawn
He works hard every day, goes home by night
Minding not of wrong, and caring not of right

If he's with friends and they should meet
He never speaks of his work and treats
Knows the word "discreet", that part-time nazi

But if there's a task of third degree
No feelings hard, that's business sheer
Just orders to be, for the part-time nazi

He is just another mindless Party pawn
waking straight up, going work at dawn
He works hard every day, goes home by night
Minding not of wrong, and caring not of right

He is just another mindless Party pawn
waking straight up, going work at dawn
He works hard every day, goes home by night
Minding not of wrong, and caring not of right

I've got something that I must tell
Last night someone rang my doorbell
And that was, yes, him, that part-time nazi

And then a man tied me on chair
And beat me up and stripped me bare
They wanted know if I'm Red
Or a Jew - that part-time nazi
But, I didn't tell to that part time nazi

Susanna - These are the most dangerous ones - they can compartmentalize their actions and convince themselves that it's only "business". If he came by at night, was he on the evening shift? ;D

OMR, exactly. When I watched the movie "Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman", it was chilling to notice how Albert Pierrepoint was able to completely compartmentalize his mind and actions and outsource his ethics and judgement. He would have been at his home at Auschwitz - he well knew Timothy Evans and Derek Bentley were innocent, and he hanged them anyway. It is exactly the mindset as with Nazis - it is only "business" - or it is only "duty". And it isn't the sadistic, bloodthirsty psychopaths who are the most dangerous types, but these part-time demons - who completely outsource their sense of ethics to authorities. They are just ordinary petty bureaucrats with sense of duty and "they just followed the orders". And when people disappear in the middle of the night, they just do the evening shift and then go home to sleep with wife and kids. It is that banality which makes them so horrible.

A painful portrait, and well painted. Darn eloquent. Duty should never be a free pass for sadistic behaviour, but monsters use it just the same.
I'll have to check out the movie.
