The Lyrics

Ignore my first entry on this. I was trying to get it in fast yesterday, and it didn't make it. This one is tidied up(spelling, etc.)

Let’s hear where Obama stands
The unemployed are seething
Raising some doubts this speech will say
The need for taxes reaching
Middle fingers fill the sky
It's just what Barack hadn't planned
People raise your hands to sky
Cause I'm Nobel and want a hand

So behind his charade
Will our country replete?
Cause we'll see soon time will tell
If Obama brings us back from heat

State of union is in hell
State of union is in hell

Drinking up our funds so bold
Corporate losses want more pay
Obama said stimulus powers
Shelters you from pain
He's gonna have to dig a moat
Protect around the White House crown
While he safely climbs into bed
Our country fast is going down

So behind his Charade
Divided house complete
And there's not much more to tell
Marshmallows held out to the heat

State of union is in hell
State of union is in hell

Healthcare waiting coverage drop
Needless care for elderly
He plays bingo with their lives
But coverage for unemployed niece
My last savings just about
Paying for my mortgage trap
Another tax will take that away
And we'll all live in caravans

So I hope this parade
Shows he will complete
Our repair cause now it smells
Like burnt cinders on my stinging feet

State of union is in hell
State of union is in hell

This is such a perfect OS you used to spoof for last night's speech, Scotti! As usual, I've always enjoyed your parodies! When I saw Obama's speech last night, I'm still very hesitant about my opinion about his bringing change to the nations' economy. It got me thinking as to whether he'll spend his presidency term talking instead on acting on the situation, or will he actually conjure plans on bringing change to the nations' economy and increasing employment, cutting taxes to middle class, etc. I hope that the second part of what I said would be true. As you've said, only time will tell, as of now state of union is in hell. Hopefully not for long. Well, in his speech, Obama did say we shouldn't quit or give up in spite of all those hardships we encounter. Here's 555 parody writer bailouts for this one!

DKTOS, so didn't cast a vote for pacing, etc. But it's a pretty fair view of the State of Minds around the country... at least where I am. There comes a point in time when powerful orations just don't cut the mustard anymore.

My new plan provides for a stimulus package to give jobs to parodists as excellent as Mr. ScoTTi, so that they'll quit nit-picking teensy little failures and unkept promises, and join MSNBC in spewing the White House line. (btw, I always thought that "replete" was an adjective or noun, not a verb, Maybe, "retreat", or "become replete"?)

To Fiddlegirl, thank, and yes I'm sick of the mustard. To Mr. Obama, I thank you for the new plan, sir, and hope it includes improvements in education(As "Become replete" was the better way to go....)

Good spoof and very good burnt cinders metaphor.

Education is my highest priority! Why, by the time my first term is finished, every sixth-grader in the land will know how to read a teleprompter!

Seriously: I know someone who runs a preschool and day-care center for what are almost entirely underprivileged, inner-city minority children, nearly all from broken homes, and usually not the best quality of parenting from their Mother. The school is the best "head start" and best role models of adults in their lives. The program is partially Federally-funded; the school has 20 vacancies, but there are 1000 children on the waiting list for lack of funds. Talk the talk, Mr. O, about children and education, but walk the walk. Do something *useful* for a change, or we'll all end up paying to support these kids in prison in 15 or 20 years. Talk is cheap. Don't talk to another photo-op class of kids until you get these poor ones into the only decent environment they'll have. (end of soapbox)
