The Lyrics

Wednesday (12/17) at 8/7 Central on ABC is the last episode of 2008, "The Norwegians." It will already have aired by the time you read this parody. This song chronicles the tragic love of Charlotte "Chuck" Charles and Ned, who can't touch in any way, shape, or form due to Ned's touch re-killing her permanently. It also deals with fans' frustration with the cancellation and not getting to see more Chuck and Ned once the show is off the air.
As I woke this morning
and opened up my eyes
Didn't notice the heart pains
ABC is as...inine

The Nielsen numbers, oh ABC
what's happening to Ned's pies?
I can't stop joining this mass parade
Will our king of pies be steady with "Chuck" tonight?

I wanna see more "Chuck" and Ned
They can't touch anymore
Charlotte needs poor Ned, too
Don't cancel, the paaaaain!

Ned's told her all his secrets
But their flesh can't touch again
Ned even feels alone when she's near
Only touch with plastic hand

When they first met when "rest in peace"
Their parents passed away*
It's strange, back to life, Ned's touch
But the time ain't right
To leave tonight
Let Ned make more pies
'Cause the TV seems then so black

I wanna see more Chuck and Ned
Season 3, Season 4
ABC, how could you
Leave the "Daisies" slain?
* Ned's mother dead and was brought back to life for longer than 60 seconds, causing Chuck's father to die in Ned's mom's place. But Ned's mom still died when she kissed Ned goodnight. Thus, it was a double-funeral. Ned's father is still alive, and Chuck's mother is her Aunt Lily.

Holy crap, you did a parody from Rage For Order? I'm very impressed!

(SOTM) The sad anger of the OS matches the lyrics to a T. A little bit much of the original lyrics than I would have liked--but it's better as a standalone than the other parody you were considering for SOTM. If you are going to do more Queensryche/Daisies material, it's gonna be quite a stretch...perhaps individual songs about individual characters would be your next step.

SOTM - DKTOS nor am I interested in hearing it as I'm not into headbanger stuff. Alas, the lyrics don't do it for me either, doesn't sound like a particularly cheery or funny subject.

I remember this show, because the narrator was the man who did the Harry Potter books on tape. (My dad likes listening to books on tape on long car trips instead of music so I've heard all of them). Great song, great band that doesn't really get enough action I hope you keep this project up.

(SOTM) Have no idea what you're on about but your lyrics matched OS rhyming throughout and made sense, so.... good job in that respect. :P

I'm soo on the outside of the subject here...

(SOTM) Well this one flew right over my head, both in content and original song. I can't really say anything of use here, but the rules of SOTM forbid me from not commenting so comment I must! Aaaaaand I'm out.

Soap Opera?

(SOTM) well, I'm familiar with the grief one goes through when a favourite show ends, Chris, so I sympathise - as for the detail, it's necessarily an "in" read, so I missed the meanings - well written though - 555

(SOTM) Got some of the references, not others. Fit with the OS, so it worked. Nice read.

(SOTM) Worked well to the OS, but I have no knowledge of this show or the references, so unfortunately much of the humor went right over my head, but as one who has his share of parodies that have 'gone over others heads' (My own tv/movie tributes) I can respect what you did here:)

SOTM - Never saw the show, but I knew the critics loved it. Unfortunately, critically praised shows typically get the ax, because they are too intelligent for typical Americans. Surely this parody was a labor of love, but choosing an obscure OS and a fairly obscure TV show as the subject makes it hard to relate to.
