The Lyrics

Probably not what you were expecting to see, I know...
In the year of '69
Landed men upon the moon
In the days when spaceships flew
See them blasting off
Into the blue and sunny morn
Sweetest sight ever seen

Then they landed one day
Many thousand miles away
Planet earth left far behind
And so many folks that day
Watched enthralled on their TVs
One small step
One great leap
For mankind

Can't you see the Earth
Hanging up there in the sky
Don't you feel you're falling, too
If you're standing on the moon
You'll be coming home too soon
To the land
That our grand-
Children knew

In the year of '69
Came a film in from the moon
But you won't guess what some say:
Yes, they'll say the truth
Is that spacemen Neil and Buzz
Never left the U.S. of A.

Their mistakes were oh, so dumb
Flags wave in a vacuum?
And you know this cannot be
And there's lighting from the sun
When there should be only shade
It ain't right
It seems quite
Odd to me

Can't you see, it's fake
Though it's many years away
Can't you see they're hoaxing you
'Cause the prints in lunar dust
Can't be right in fact they must
Be the land
That our grand-
Children knew

Can't you see, it's fake
Though it's thirty years away
Can't you see they're hoaxing you
Don't they fill you with disgust
These fake footprints in the dust
It's all one
Great big con-
Spiracy

Interesting idea for an obscure song.

"Obscure"? '39 has long been one of my favourite Queen songs (I mean, for twenty years or more), so I guess I'm biased in that respect. I've been wanting to write a parody to it for years, but only recently had this idea when given a link to a moon-landing-conspiracy site... it made me laugh so much, I wrote a parody.

if it is a conspiracy, our Radio Telescope in Parkes, Australia, built for the purpose, that picked up the TV pictures while they were moonwalking, was a pretty big white elephant - unless it was pointed at the Burbank studio - 555 - nice idea

555 - '39 is one of my favorite Queen songs, too!

No, not what I expected from the title but I was happy with what I found.

Stuart - the conspiracy theorists are very good at forgetting that there were many countries around the world monitoring the transmissions from the moon... come to think of it, they're pretty good at forgetting quite a few things
Patrick - I (obviously) did have the "other" 69 as an idea, but I couldn't bring myself to do *that* to this song. I'm glad you're happy :-)

PS Charlie - good taste always shows ;-)

yes I know that Phil - I certainly wasn't pumping our tiny nation's meagre credentials! ;-) (I just wanted to say Burbank)

'39 is the best song on ANATO and this parody is brilliant. (All hope's on Ol' Malky for a parody with the same title ^_^)
