The Lyrics

It's been a while since I submitted, I've been busy working on my site (check it out, link below). Just did this parody and I kinda liked it, so I thought I'd share with y'all..
You could have your lawn mowed
If you'd just clean up your yard
You could have all your weeds pulled
It would not be all that hard

All you do is pay me
I'm the gardener you need

You could have a stone pathway
Going up and down, all around your shed
You could have a vegetable, garden
Or you could have some flowers instead

I think I need a hedge trimmer
So I can trim your hedge
Oh let me have some hedge trimmers
I will need a power outlet

Show me all your shovels
"Cause I need to dig a trench
Hope that it's no trouble
But I also need to use your wrench

I'm gonna need some hedge trimmers
So I can trim your hedge
I want to use your hedge trimmers
Make your yard it's best
I'm going to need the hedge trimmers
I can use the extra money
With your hedge trimmers
Hope there's no uneven corners

Hedge, hedge, hedge trimmers

I've laid down new sod (laid down new sod)
Picked up turds (picked up turds)
Tied up the branches (tied up the branches)
Took them to the curb (took them to the curb)
Oh won't you rake the leaves and put them in the bag
Rake those leaves, get them in a bag
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm helping you
All for you, I've been chopping through
Going to need some power, plug, plug in that power, hey
I've been doing landscaping
I've been doing landscaping
Using electric power, and gas too
Come on, come on, help me through
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you
I've been watering the lawn
I've been watering the lawn
The sprinkler's going, going, all day and night

I almost gave you all 5's but the pacing was just slightly off in a few spots. But I gave you credit for that because this is a hard song to parody as it is, good job.

I like it! Really cutting (h)edge humor.

Thanx for the comments, guys.

(SOTM) Oddly enough, I wrote a parody called "Hedge Trimmer", but mine focused only on topiary trimming. You did all the landscaping and fertilizing!
Mikey Squirrel - April 09, 2007 - Report this comment
I had no idea that you did the same parody, Agri. I usually don't check when I submit one. My theory is if I didn't see it somewhere else, then it's new to me, right? I read yours, though, and it was good too. Never thought of topiary trimming.

(SOTM) What a brilliant anthem for spring...if it was spring where I am of course. Great work, Mikey!

(SOTM) I always thought landscapers were supposed to have their own tools, but this gets the job done just the same.

Yes, and a weed-eater wouldn't hurt: Here's 555 yards of line for it.

(SOTM) A simple, brilliantly clever idea, well done! Easy to sing along to the OS, too.

(SOTM) Clever rather than LOL funny, Mikey...but very well written with some fantastic subs. 555

Thanks for the comments guys. I love doing quirky parodies about simple things.

(SOTM) Pacing is great, funny in it's own right, enjoyed it, unfortunately with all the 'epic' parodies and all, I won't lie, this is one of those that I really enjoyed and hope to read more of in the future--it's a fun song even if it's not a novel length parody.
Chris Frederick - April 30, 2007 - Report this comment
SOTM - Straightforward and well done! If my local lawn service company used ad jingles like this, I might hire them more often.
Wolverine - April 30, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Agree with Chris F. Good song, and would be well used by a landscaping company. 555 Hefty Cinch Sack lawn bags
