The Lyrics

I've never been one to sing lullabies to my children... I guess this might be why: this is what came to mind this evening while putting an unwell child to bed. No, I didn't sing it to him :-)
Sundown, ending of another day,
Bedtime is just a brush of teeth away
No more trying to stay awake
Time to get into a sleepy state
Can't get to sleep?
Don't you know that dreams are cheap?
Goes down like eyelids at bedtime
Sleepyhead, go to sleep now sleepyhead. Goodnight.

Brain dead, never is known to fail:
Reading another silly fairy tale
Don't move, I'll shut the door and kill the lights,
Don't you know that mummy is always right?
This can't be true
Not again - you need the loo?
You'd better go then, already
Sleepyhead, time to sleep now sleepyhead. Goodnight.

Fourth book, five tale marathon,
I'm reading 'nother and another one
Don't move, I'll shut the door and kill the lights,
Tell me: why do you never sleep at nights?
You should be tired,
And I am uninspired
Ain't got to sleep for an hour
Sleepyhead, go to sleep now sleepyhead.
I'm talking to you now, sleepyhead
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah sleepyhead

Goodnight

it's hard to muster enthusiasm for the plotlines at 3 in the morning - 555 - and I think it's good you got it off your chest Phil

Thanks, Stuart- I think what appeals to me about this one is the thought of singing it Lemmy-style as a lullaby (with Motorhead doing the backing)

Excellent writing...Lotta' good lines here, like, "Bedtime just a brush of teeth away", and I'll apologize in advance, but a "Sleepy State"....Could that be, "Mattress-chusetts"?

I love this one Phil, If I ever get to have kids I will use this parody to introduce them to my favorite band.

"Fourth book, five tale marathon" is a brilliant line. My sister and my brother have kids and they're on their fifth tale marathon telling me about that situation. What next, what next, a potty training song to the tune of "Bomber"? ;-)

Thanks :-)
K1chyd - I wondered when you'd be around... it seemed like one you'd appreciate :-) I'll skip the potty-training parodies, though: that's so far behind me now that I'd rather not bring back those kind of memories.

...having said that "Potty Training" scans quite well to "Come Together"...

I'm not around every day as I used to be, or at least I won't always be able to, but I'll try to catch up during weekends when that happens. Feel free to - should I despite that totaly miss a Motörhead parody of yours - plug for it in the comments field of one of mine when you see that I am back.
