The Lyrics

NOTE: This version includes the entire fade-out portion at the end. It's not too long, I checked it out on a couple different lyric websites.
Barkeeper poured me some "Beam"; took the whole shot down clean
Yes, it messed my mind, that stuff gave me such a real buzz
Made the whole damn place spin all around
Oh yes, it messed with my mind, 'til the whole place spun all around

I said, "Good stuff, that Jimmy Beam", then I shot it down clean
Sure it messed with my head, made both my eyes roll all around
Made me stumble on down to the ground

People always tell me, "you are such a drunken sot
And your drunkenness, it always appalls"
And those mothers sure do bore me with all their pious crap
I don't care, you can get screwed, 'cause my whiskey's such great booze

Jimmy Beam, well that's my whiskey
Go buy a fifth, and then knock the whole thing down
The buzz is just so damned strong
I said, I drank it all, and I got such a strong buzz

I was so dazed; it knocked out my lights
Sprawled me on my backside
I could not stand but still did demand
"Another drink, man"
Then I drank while the room spun around
The feeling was so nice, then I remember puking twice
(Did puke twice)

Drank more maybe, it seemed to me; wasted as I could be
Then I said , "Oh-Oh, screw me", cause my eyes were now half-blind (Oh-Oh)
I lost my lunch, yes, I blew it all around

People often tell me "you're nothing but a drunk
and your drunkenness offends us all"
Their attitudes repel me
'Cause I just don't give a damn
Their piety is so lame
Say, what the hell's my name?

Jimmy Beam, it's real good whiskey
Whiskey so good, it's just so smooth going down
And it gives you such a buzz

Jimmy Bean, is real good whiskey
Whiskey so good, it's extra smooth going down
Yes, you get such a great buzz
Sh*t, it's so damn good; best and finest booze I have found

But it messed with my mind; the whole place spun all around
Yes, Mister Beam, oh, it blitzed me
Drank that whole fifth, yes, I sure did knock it down
Oh, I should have just gone home
'Cause it messed up my mind; had the whole place spinning 'round

Stuff had messed up my mind, made me stumble to the ground
Yes, I just got too buzzed

Jimmy Beam, it's real good whiskey
Jimmy Beam, it's real good whiskey
Jimmy Beam, it's real good whiskey
Jimmy Beam, it's real good whiskey
Jimmy Beam, it's real good whiskey

Jimmy Beam is
Jimmy Beam is
Jimmy Beam is

Real good whiskey
Real good whiskey
Real good whiskey
Real good whiskey

Jimmy Beam, it's real good whiskey (Gives you such a buzz)
Jimmy Beam, it's real good whiskey (Gives you such a buzz)
Jimmy Beam, it's real good whiskey (Gives you such a buzz)
Jimmy Beam, it's real good whiskey (Gives you such a buzz)

Jimmy Beam is
Jimmy Beam is

Jimmy Beam, it's real good whiskey
Jimmy Beam, it's real good whiskey

Jimmy Beam is
Jimmy Beam is

Jimmy Beam, it's real good whiskey
Jimmy Beam, it's real good whiskey

Jimmy Beam is
Jimmy Beam is

Hiya, anonymouse "4-2-3" buddy. No comments, still. Well, you're welcome anyway. whatever...

Hi Paul, this made me laugh! (And I it also gave me a headache!) Well done, maestro! 555!

Well, well, well....seems you might be vulnerable right now with all the stuff you drank. ;) 5's

Rod W - Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Writing this made me glad I don't drink anymore. It reminds of a certain night in the 70's at this place in Venice called "The Oar House", except it was "Tequila Night". Pitchers of any Tequila drink for some ridiculously cheap price. Hey, I only had one glass, unfortunately it was the pitcher...and the friends I had with me kept filling it up out of their pitchers when it go a little low. I have NEVER been so sick and miserable before of after in my entire life as I was the next morning.

Adagio, implying I might be subject to a "weak moment"? Well, there's always that possibility, of course...

funny parody and a tricky song to tackle...nice job...5s

Glad to see you're on the Beam. And, no, I won't do the obvious "Star Trek" joke. After all, Jim Beam may be whiskey, but it's not Scotch.
Adagio - June 14, 2004 - Report this comment
Paul, there is always that possibility! :D

Paul, I have offset the 423 guy best I could!

Alvin, thanks - yeah, it was a bit of a task, but it was kind of fun to do, too. Thanks, Michael, the 'Star Trek' analogy escaped me until I saw your note. I don't think I could have worked it into the parody, though. Adagio, especially after a few pitchers of "J.B." mixed drinks...Per - thanks! I'd say I hate to whine but I don't think that's totally true. hmmm....OK, I've got it now...I hate to be PERCEIVED as whining, but I don't really mind doing a little now and then, per se...
Rod Worden - June 14, 2004 - Report this comment
I think we all like to whine a little now and then. If we didn't, we'd go nuts! Your reference to perception, is astute, Paul. I've always liked the expression "Perception is Reality", for it truly IS real in the mind of the perceiver, irregardless of the nature of the actual reality itself. This is probably the main reason people have trouble communicating; things said (or written) can be misconstrued entirely. Sometimes a joke cracked is taken seriously and addressed in a serious manner. Among friends, of course, this becomes a source of laughter down the road. But drinking can sure skew the process, as you have alluded. Btw, still up for ping pong?
Paul Robinson - June 14, 2004 - Report this comment
Rod, Thanks. Ping-pong, Sure! Of course it will be a couple months or so before I make my next trek up North. I've got some things I've committed to doing around here in June & July. Yeah, let's keep in touch on that. I'm looking forward to it.

Ahh...I see now in addition to my NEW friend, Mr. "4-2-3" that my OLD friend, Mr. "1-derful" has also blessed me with a visit. I'm touched...So I'd better go wash up now..
Rod - June 15, 2004 - Report this comment
Me too! Two guys our age playing ping pong might be entertaining to a bystander! Speaking of aging, go check out (again) the comments area of the one I just did on same, starting in about the middle. Not to re-hash, but would be interested in your views.

'I'm touched...So I'd better go wash up now..' LOL

Rod, Hey, us older folks can cover the ground on a ping-pong table. I'll look for that parody you mentioned. Middle of the comments, eh? Adagio - I was wondering if anyone noticed that "touching" remark. Thanks.
