The Lyrics

In November 2019, the old "Han shot first" controversy, which dates back to the special editions of Star Wars, received fresh blood with the release of the Disney Plus edition of the movies, among other Disney properties. (To that end, this is sort of a followup to another country parody of mine, "Song of the Mouse.") In this latest iteration, Greedo yells "Maclunkey" before Han takes him out. This is actually a Huttese phrase spelled "ma klounkee," or "this is your doom," but has become another meme. In response, I put out this parody, my 117th overall but first of Keith Whitley.
Well, everybody talks about if I did shoot first,
But the firefight, for me, takes a back seat to the words
In Mos Eisley, when Greedo caught me, smuggling items.

I told him I’d the money that old Jabba did ask,
But he said too late, that I’d taken him to task.
Even on my starship, I can hear his final words ring,
Threat’ning me:

“Maclunkey, Han Solo!
Say those words to Jabba, and he may take your ship.
Maclunkey, Han Solo!”
I just had to shoot him, lest he end my trip.

They say those words he never did say,
But my good friend George,* he remembered one day
Why I’d fried up Greedo in that cantina bar;
His mem’ry goes far.

So yet again, you’ll see the scene
Updated once more and shown pristine;
The recension will make clear the words that Greedo last said
Ere I shot him dead:

“Maclunkey, Han Solo!
I’ve awaited this time for a long galactic day.
Maclunkey, Han Solo!”
I cleaned up the mess and went upon my way,
More stormtroopers in the galaxy to slay.
