The Lyrics

No, this has nothing to do with the John Lennon song "Working Class Hero." It has everything to do with the fact that I made it in to work today, March 16, 2007. The New York news broadcasts predicted 6 to 12 inches of snow for today. Compared to the driving, freezing rain, whipping wind and icy conditions we've actually gotten, 6 to 12 inches would've been an improvement! (And not just in a "longshoreman" way!)
(instrumental opening)

Look at what's happened to me.
I can't believe it myself.
Suddenly I'm sitting down at my desk.
But I don't see anyone else!

Believe it or not, I got in to work!
I never thought I'd get through scot-free!
Riding the bus, then a mile to walk!
How could it be?
Believe it or not, look and see!

Predicted snowfall for this day.
But hit me from out of the blue
was rain that was freezing and ice on the ground.
I wouldn't wish this slop on you!

Believe it or not, I got in to work!
I never thought I'd get through scot-free!
Riding the bus, then a mile to walk!
How could it be?
Believe it or not, look and see!

This is too bad to be true!
Look at me, falling right through!

Believe it or not, I got in to work!
I never thought I'd get through scot-free!
Riding the bus, then a mile to walk!
How could it be?
Believe it or not, look and see!

(instrumental close)
And yet, here I am at work, and I'm obviously violating one of the "rules" I set forth in my own parody "Things I Would Not Recommend," namely, "Parody-writing on your work computer!" Fortunately, I've still got three days worth of the Elven-inspired immunity that Arwen got me for Christmas.

Well said, Mike. 5s. Having said that, we usually get plenty of snow up here in Rhode Island. However, this winter season's seemed pretty dry. Something's wrong. Ah well, at least I got 1 snow day out of school this season.

Who gave this 1s? Seriously. It's darling! I actually was surprised to have made it into work yesterday as well...but that was because we were closed, and I wasn't expected to be there. But I was. I know...I'm a freak. But you love me anyway...=)

Who gave this 1s? Probably someone to whom I could ask the question, "Don't you wish YOUR girlfriend was a freak like Arwen?" Nah, he couldn't handle one. Alvin: Tenacity, anyone?

Did you just call me a freak? Like a circus freak? I recently gave up my attempts (they are about 2 months old now) to write "Circus Freak" to "Super Freak." I'm depressed...I'm sure it would be fabulous...but I just can't break down the wall that is my writer's block. Now I'm depressed. But again...did you just call me a freak?
