The Lyrics

Arwen's posting of "Blame" a couple of days ago reminded me of this parody I wrote shortly after the original came out.
I go out at night
To set the town alight
I don't need to hit the hot spots
I just use the special things that I've got
Gasoline and rags
Matches and paper bags
I can start a sun with my hands
Don't you know who I am

Remember my name '" Flame
I'm gonna light a fire
I'm gonna burn up your town
I'm gonna make it a pyre
Light up the sky all around
Watch the flames soar ever higher
Watch all the walls tumble down
I'm gonna build a fire
And burn everything to the ground

When things get really hot
I bring out what I've brought
I've got marshmallows and hot dogs
They're great roasted over a burning log
And if I get to you
You'll be a pyro too
We can torch our way to the top
I don't know when to stop

[Repeat Chorus]

"The Rex. The Rex. The Rex is on fire." Wow, I don't think I'd ever seen a parody of this song before, and now we get two in a single SOTM contest. That is a tribute not just to Ms. Cara, but to all rockers named Irene. Anyhoo - nice job. My fave line is the one about the marshmallows and hot dogs. What fun is arson without snacks?

SOTM--L-ing OL, Rex...I'm a total pyro at heart...=) I had to check my author page to see if I'd written a parody called "Blame," though...; ) I think I might now...you know...live up to the hype. Ooooh...this is about you. Sorry...excellent work!

sotm - I like the idea of burning a whole town, and then roasting marshmallows at the flames - do you use the eastern side, or maybe the NW freeway entrance? - where are the flames the softest? - LOL! - 555

Connects very well to the original. Good job, Rex.

ISTR a "Flame" on-line argument sort of parody... this is considerably more, er, arsonine ;-) 'tis a good job, indeed.

Wonderful parody Rex! I can actually picture in my mind a person torching a city while singing this song. It sort of reminds me of "The Mad Bomber who what bombs at Midnight" (You have to be a Tick fan to really get that reference). Anyway, you do not need my 555, but I give them to you anyway!

(SOTM) Is it hot in here or is it just hot in here?

I felt all warm and fuzzy, then someone pointed out the flames on my head. That's when I started screaming... Well done, Rex.
