This one is about stepping from the real world into a dimension of altered time and space, where a moral inversion exists. This is the realm of real purple fog, purple rain, a realm of darkness, Madness, huge hungry animals, and danger ever-hungry and never-sleeping. 'Cause it's a nightmare in the dark. On your knees, boy, and pray your hardest, 'Cause this ain't the trenches. It be hell, boy, and only God can save your sorry behind. Got it? (Ps: the planet of nightmares will one day hit the web. Most of the first story arc, this blasted across perhaps a dozen novels, is done. All that needs is finishing, and then presenting. I've writ about this episode, when the computers that control the device that alters time and space misbehave and the chain that tethers this domain established upon a branch chain fails, and the place is adrift in the imaginary portion of four-space. It is neccessary to travel the void, go to the planet which exports nightmares, recover the stolen computer, replace it, reprogram all of the computers and verify the 'nodule' is intact, with the correct ferromagnetic domains intact, then bring up the navigational computers and ensure the amplitude and frequency modulation schemes are on frequency and in the proper phase and amplitude signatures. Only then does the chain reform fully, and the place is no longer 'lost'. If you have ever heard the song 'Purple Haze', it may well give you ideas as to what the Abbey is like during Slow Time. Watch the witch-rats, though. They come from nowhere and have claws and fangs that make those of an African Lion look worthless.
