The Lyrics

Over the last few years in particular, Congress and many statehouses have become increasingly polarized. Several times in this stretch, Congress has flirted with governmental shutdown--something experienced in several states including my own of Minnesota. Several theories abound, but many point to the provincialism of many lawmakers, particularly those from rural areas of either party. Seriously, I believe that both parties are totally f*cked up!!! As for solutions to the gridlock, feel free to peruse this parody, my 104th overall but first of a tag team better known for a certain song whose video hit the airwaves of MTV in the wee hours of 1 August 1981...
(During the intro, bickering between lawmakers can be heard...)

Every day, you hear the news:
Some reforms were met with boos
From across the chamber floor;
I don't know if I can take more.

Interparty unity
Seems a distant fantasy
When a budget they can't fix
Or the farm bill's always nixed.

As polarized they do become,
I've sought a way from gridlock's snare.
I've lost much sleep, but now I think
That this will work both now and here.

Living in the...
Living in the polar age,
I know a way out of the rage;
Let's promote with RCV (1)
Much more mod'rate third parties.

Politicians then will seek
How to turn the other cheek,
And team up with the opposition
To govern with less inhibition.

Things will get done some way, somehow,
Much more than is seen nowadays.
The land that works for people's good
America once more will be.

Living in the...
Polar age. (3x)

It won't be easy; it will take
A great step forward in the night.
But, we the people should support
A way to stop these Congress fights.

Living in the polar age...
Polar age...
Polar age...

Shut the government down for six months. See how many of the agencies the public would even miss. Politicians know they are mostly worthless drones in charge of useless masses of parasites, sucking the life out of the working class. That's why this country is on the brink of total meltdown. We could lose 75% of the federal government tomorrow and things would only get better.
