I bought my first real four-string
it was a blue Squier P
Tuned it, and plugged on amplifier
played riff and melody -

Me and some - gals from the college
got together at my dad's garage
When we hauled the amps and the drums in
my momma freaked and started to cry -

"Sue! No way, that just won't do -
Your noise just seems to break our nerves, and
think about your studies too -
and what about the ears of your old man?"
Those were some rantings of my mom

Can't do no practise as a bass lass
When you got the labs to do
Spent my days in library and in class
In the evenings I played song or two -

Deep down at the dad's garage
He told "you girls could play together" -
Oh and when we had that band -
I knew that it was now or never -
Those were some dear words of my dad

Back in Summer of '89

Mom, we were playing fine
We were young and geeky
We needed to unwind
I guess nothin' can last forever, no

And now the times have been changing
Look at the things that's come and gone
Somethimes when I play that blue four-string
I think about and wonder what I've become -

Typing on the Am-I-Right
spoofing 'nother song, to say
Oh, and when I get it rhyme
I wish that I had done it that day
