The Lyrics

You got me looking at that hell in your eyes
I was ignoring your direction
I was telling you all lies
And I was hating you
When the words you said
Baby, I lost my head
And in a world of nothing
It's just you and me

There is something come between us in the end
Can't I hold you when you ain't even mine
Only you can't see me through
I can't leave it up to you

Do it right, taking me through the night
Shadow prancing
Baby you do it wrong
Give me more, drag me across the room
Shadow prancing
All that and one night stand

All that I need is just one moment in your bed
I was stalking you forever
I was doing you some harm
And I was loving you
Make it dark, make it rain
Baby I know my way
I need that bitter sensation
Of living in your love
I can breath when I dump you
It pulls you down

You are the question and the road block am I
Only you can't see me through
I leave it up to you

Do it right, taking me through the night
Shadow prancing
Baby you do it wrong
Give me more, drag me across the room
Shadow prancing

All that and one night stand
And in a world of nothing
It's just you and me
There is something come between us in the end
Can't I hold you when you ain't even mine
Only you can't see me through
I can't leave it up to you

Do it right, taking me through the night
Shadow prancing
Baby you do it wrong
Give me more, drag me across the room
Shadow prancing
All that and one night stand

Max, Max, Max.... I just loved this parody, and the original is one of my all-time favourite 70s' OSes. Perfect 5,5,5 vote for such wonderfully written work!

This would be a good version for Depeche Mode to sing... 5-5-5

(SOTM) Thanks for the link to the recording, though I had to update my RealPlayer for three or four minutes beforehand. DKTOS, but that was hilarious! The funny thing I can actually hear Andy Gibb singing those lyrics. Great job! 555

(SOTM) Max, I hate giving out less than 5s, but this was a rather weak effort, I must admit. After looking at the OS's lyrics, I can see you only changed a few lyrics here and there, and you've done that in other parodies as well. I'd recommend that you try to change as many of the OS's words as possible, otherwise it might be considered plagiarism. Other than that...a stalker song, eh? I've written spoofs about being stalked beforeā€"by the 1 Guy, that is.

(SOTM) Taking a song and flipping it is a great start to a parody, but this would be a better SOTM candidate if it had more Max Power and less Andy Gibb in it. Nice idea, though.

(SOTM) Not much of a original parody. Sorry.

(SOTM) - Seems that noone's objecting to the mp3-URL I asked about and suggested on the entry thread, hence I'm ready to assume it's OK. Have to agree with previous voters here though, a bit too close to the original.

(SOTM) I agree with the latter opinions..too much of the original in there. I would like to see you do this song making up all your words...it's an enjoyable OS.

SOTM: More of the same...good idea, but use the opportunity to get more of your own ideas in here. Not bad.

Sorry, Max, this just ain't workin' for me. You used way too much of the original, you screwed up the chorus rhyme scheme with the words you changed, and you didn't put enough of a theme into it. You gotta use the space in the lyrics and change 'em enough to really make it YOUR WORK. Right now it just doesn't work as a parody.

(SOTM) It isn't very clear to me what this spoof is about, but it's well written.

(SOTM) Let's see...what don't I know here? TOS, the content, TOA...a lot of things. but hey, I'm 15, what are ya gonna do?

(SOTM) Max, I had to give you a 333 on this, for the reasons the others have already stated. Not very original and not very funny.

(SOTM) Is this about a gay stalker? I can see the Bee Gees/Andy Gibb singing that. Reminded me of the South Park episode where Mr. Garrison gets a nose job and looks like Michael Hasselhoff. Anyway, this needed more changes from TOS. The pacing and rhyming are off with what you changed. I take it you made this parody from a set of lyrics alone, as there are 5 choruses at the end of the song, not one. Try singing what you write to TOS and see if there are any areas that don't scan quite right - it usually isn't too hard to fix them.
Stuart McArthur - April 28, 2006 - Report this comment
(sotm) always liked the OS, and I can see your thinking with changing Dancing to Prancing and making the shadows about stalking, but if only you'd honoured such a good idea with more original lines/gags, it could have been a great one, Max

(sotm) i have to agree with all the negative reviews as i'm completely confused

Sorry, Max, but this one really didn't do anything for me.

SOTM--hmmm...I hate bandwagons. I really do. But I mostly didn't get this...=( I have gotten stalked though...if that's any consolation. I don't know how it would be, really...but I wanted to say something that wasn't critical. ; )

(SOTM) I hate DKTOS's, and this month seems to be full of them. I'm not familiar enough with the OS to know how original your parody is, but others don't seem to think it is.

(SOTM) Smooth alignment to the OS.
