The Lyrics

This is my little tribute to the greatest Halloween prank ever pulled, by history's greatest auteur, Orson Welles---the infamous CBS War of the Worlds radio broadcast. Today is the 69th anniversary of that day, and I decided to honor it and its instigator with a parody of this awesome Aerosmith song!! I imagine the recording (mostly the guitar solo) would be full of sound clips from the broadcast and the sounds of people screaming and rioting. Enjoy!!
Dum, dum, dum, Orson, what have you done?
Dum, dum, dum, that's a Martian ray gun
Dum, dum, dum, Orson, what have you done?
Dum, dum, dum, what's that sound...

Orson's having fun
Orson's having fun
The planet war's just begun
The mothership just blocked the sun

What did the boy genius do?
What'd he put his audience through?
They say that when you visit Jersey
Look out for sludge and acid rain
Oh well, his public had it coming
'Cuz when Orson's having fun
The Garden State will never be the same...

Orson's having fun
Orson's having fun
All you townsfolk better run
Or you'll get a Martian stun

Nobody had a clue
Although the story wasn't true
He punk'd the whole entire nation
A few even blew out their brains
You know the spell that they get under
From foley-artist thunder
Makes imaginations go insane...

Run away, run away from the Martian invay-ee-ay-ee-ay-ee-aders
Run away, run away, flee your homes
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Run away, run away, run, run away...

(Guitar solo)

Orson's having fun
Orson's having fun
Media attention's won
This prank will never be outdone

Orson and his radio crew
It was just their way of saying "Boo!"
He's faced with million-dollar lawsuits
But Orson says he can't complain
Because when science-fiction fun
Ends up in mass hysteria
It makes his greatest work 'til "Citizen Kane"

Run away, run away from the Martian invay-ee-ay-ee-ay-ee-aders
Run away, run away, flee your homes
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Run away, run away, run, run away...

Orson's having fun
Orson's having fun
Orson's having fun
So everybody better run

Orson's having fun
The planet war's just begun
So all you people better run
Because Orson's having fun
Orson's having fun
The townsfolk better run
Or they'll get a Martian stun
Orson's having fun...

(repeat and fade)

Greetings from East Brunswick, New Jersey, just 18 miles from the landing site in Grover's Mill, in West Windsor, New Jersey, now home to the Princeton Junction Amtrak station. Take these fives to your leader.

Orson's timing was way off. That was broadcast when everybody was on edge because Hitler was on the warpath.

Nice tribute to squandered genius.

I so would have liked to have been around at the time of the broadcast...this was clever stuff, Rox. 555

I couldn't figure out how this parody had no comments, but I now see that you submitted it twice and I was looking at the comment-less version. Very timely and clever parody with good substitutions.

That was my bad. Accidental double-post. Is there any way to remove it?
