The Lyrics

I wrote a couple of parodies recently about the Pope tweeting.. well, what he's tweeting about is the new Vatican website "news.va" - and after hearing this a few times, this was kind of an inevitable endpoint.

One note - "Catholics" throughout is pronounced with two syllables "Cath'lics", to scan with "young man".. OK, another note (I didn't expect...) - Where you see "http:", it gets sung as "h t t p colon"
Catholics! If you're wanting the news
About Catholics, or Pope Benedict's views
About Catholics, there's a website for you
That won't mention kiddy-fiddling

Catholics! From the West or the East
Or there's Catholics, and which ones are deceased
Lots of stories - but no paedophile priests
And the ways they cover for them

http:news.va
http:news.va

And Pope Benedict tweets all the stuff going on
Follow him at twitter.com

http:news.va
http:news.va

You can see the events of Pope Benny Sixteen
And the rest of the Holy See

Catholics, are you listening to me?
I said, Catholics, Just type "http
Colon", Catholics, "//news.va"
And there's not one whiff of scandal

Catholics - while there's not many facts
There are Catholics and Pontifical Acts
In Italian.. so to google translate
Read in Latin, if not lightweight

http:news.va
http:news.va

And they have twitter feeds to give out the good news
About how wonderf'ly full are pews

http:news.va
http:news.va

You can get your soul cleaned, you can fill it up full
You can read all the Papal bull

Catholics - no, it's not really "news"
"Propaganda" is the word you should use
To be honest - they won't mention abuse
Yet their news agency's "Fides"

Listen! to Vatican Radio
On-line Catholics, there's a place you can go
To help you so you might see the light
Install Microsoft Silverlight

http:news.va
http:news.va

And they don't seem to know that much about statistics
'Cause they're only a bunch of clicks
..on all the links at the:

news.va ... you'll find it all at news.va

Catholics, Catholics there's no need to feel sad
Because the Pope's tweeting on his iPad

news.va.. http:news.va

Catholics, Catholics, yeah, he's your holy guy
Catholics, Catholics, Pope Benedict X.V.I.

news.va.. http:news.va

I know, I know this bit's rather delayed
I know, I know it's gonna repeat to fade

Phil - Holy Toledo! A frequent character on the American TV show Saturtday Night Live was Father Guido Sarducci (played by Don Novello). Father Guido was supposedly the rock and roll critic of the Vatican newspaper. Your fine parody brings these classic routines to mind. Bene, Phillipo! ;D
