The Lyrics

I'm a neuroscientist and this is my little song about what goes on in the laboratory.
First you take some knockout mice
Into ova genes we splice
Bug the government to grant some
Money in ye sum so handsome

Western blots and protein gels
Nuclei of mutant cells
What's the principal investigator keep in the refrigerator
Doing the laboratorag

Zebrafish whose genes we're after
Drosophila melanogaster
Neuron pathways intertwining
And the cell's bilipid lining
We have monkeys in their cages
Watch out for our macrophages
Two, four, six, eight
Come on, let's phosphorylate

DNA adrenaline
Protease and thiamine
Dopamine, aldosterone
Cytosine - testosterone
RNA and ATP
Glucose and cAMP
And genes and brains and guts and cells
And lots and lots a protein gels
Doing the laboratorag

This is excellent, though it does deviate from the OS a bit towards the end (he says, as a graduate biochemist and the second person on amiright to parody this song). :-)
