Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Woe To Your World"

Parody Written by:

The Comedian

The Lyrics

Jeremiah was a prophet
Had no friends at the time
The people dreaded every single word he said
He drove them to drinkin' wine
'Cause he always had some mighty fright-lines

Preachin'

"Woe, to your world!"
"Thralls to poison, you'll bow!"
"Woe, Babylonian captivity!"
"Woe, to you I see!"

"Yahweh is The King of The World,
Tells me what to do!"

"Now throw away the false and the wrong I implore,
And make things right and true,
Said, make things right and true!"

"Hear me now!"

"Woe, to your world!"
"Thralls to poison, you'll bow!"
"Woe, Babylonian captivity!"
"Woe, to you I see!"

(instrumental)

"I spent time in a cistern,
I spent time in the gloom."

"I'm a bad-news-cryer and a pain-provider,
A straight shootin' prophet-of-doom!
I said, a straight shootin' prophet-of-doom!"

"Hear me!"

"Woe, to your world!"
"Thralls to poison, you'll bow!"
"Woe, Babylonian captivity!"
"Woe, to you I see!"

(repeat and fade)

DKTOS, but I like it anyway. The rhymes are good, and like most prophets I can tell he's holy but still want to slap him :)

JD - Excellent. He's one of my favorite prophets. Great rhyming and an accurate description of that ol' boy.

Now do Habakkuk.... heh heh. Seriously, how about doing a major and minor prophets series? It could nicely complement Pach's Presidents Series. :-D

Jeremiah's laws are old, John
But, like God, your song's divine
Your words, so very good, sustain like holy bread
So I must give you these fives.

What's that? "Divine" doesn't rhyme with "fives"? Well, IT DOES NOW!!!!

Thank you very much, everybody. :)

Sweet Indigo: If a prophet makes you want to slap him/her, then he/she has done their job, I guess!

JB: Thanks, John. I'm finding all kinds of great parody material in the Good Old Good Book ..... The Bible, Shakespeare, Homer .... there's a whole universe of possibilities just waiting to be explored!

Adagio: Thanks! The rhymes and words of the original song were just askin' for it!

Cookie-man: Too many notches in this chubby boy's belt already, dude --- but I accept the compliment with a smile! ;D

Guy: Thanks --- yeah, poor old Jeremiah gets a bad rap....he was just trying to help his people by not pulling any punches!

Meriadoc: Stay tuned!

EmiLoca: I love mini-parodies in comments! Thanks!

I'm about to post my own "Joy to the World," but I had to check if my title had been used. No, but you did beat me to the mention of the Prophet Jeremiah. Could've been words, you could've switched "rainbow rider" with "Isaiah Rider." (Basketball player)
