The Lyrics

My apologies to all who love the works of J.R.R. Tolkein, but this was too good not to use. John McCain used to think of himself as Luke Skywalker, now I guess he's trying to be Aragorn leading the Fellowship back on the proper path: http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2011/07/27/280911/mccain-to-foolish-republicans-who-want-a-balanced-budget-amendment-its-unfair-its-bizarro/
(long instrumental opening)

Tea Party Hobbits.
Going off the deep end.
In a handbasket
us, they want to send.

Want to try policies
nearly killed us before.
Just what the truth is
they won't say anymore.

Worse than W...
Worse than W!
Much... worse... than W!

Compared to them, Reagan
is no conservative.
Hearts like stones in them.
And a mind like a sieve.

John McCain torched them.
They think he's liberal.
They give us so much crap
but of it, they're still full.

Worse than W...
Worse than W!
Much... worse... than W!

(instrumental break)

Tea Party Hobbits.
Going off the deep end.
Nightmare that Tolkein
he never i-ma-gined.

Bring back the policies
we've said we deplore.
Just what the truth is:
Can't take them no more.

Worse than W...
Worse than W!
Much... worse... than W!

(instrumental break)

Breathe deep... the polluted air.
Watch light go into and out one ear.
Smacked down by the black President.
Another era's useless policies spent.

Impassioned suckers wrestle with one.
Credibility, Tea Party has none.
New mother can't afford food for her son.
Senior citizens fear Depression, like when young.

Cold-hearted orcs, in U.S. House.
They are not Hobbits, each one is a louse.
Acting like Gollum, forever they grouse.
But we decide that it's them we should douse.

Their faith is an illusion.

(instrumental close)
Have I used the phrase "mind like a sieve" in a parody before? If the dunce cap fits...

Don't know the Tolkien stories, never liked "Nights in White Satin", but your song is cool. It works in so many ways. If you ignore the fact that for every carrot someone buys with food stamps, some Mexican had to work in the hot sun to harvest. And for every Section 8 house your favored poor lives in, some Mexican had to repair the roof to keep it from leaking. And the bureaucrats who shuffle the papers to admit the favored poor into the free dwellings? Some guy in China had to put in a 10 hour day in a sweatshop, so his wages could be taxed to buy the Treasury bonds that paid the bureaucrat's salary. Compassion has its limit: your paycheck, your savings, your labor. Anything beyond that is theft, no matter how many fancy words you use to disguise it.

Michael - I chuckled at McCain's comments and, in spite my political convictions, thoroughly enjoyed this. If you haven't read it (and can find a copy in print), I recommend "Bored Of The Rings" by Chris Beard and Doug Kenney...THE greatest work of parody ever!!

There is no place in a modern society for anyone who thinks compassion has a limit.

McCain looks more like Gollum if you ask me, but let's go with the premise, that would make what? Alaska = Mordor? Quebec = Gondor? Hockey players of Canada = Riders of Rohan? Frodo = Hu Jintao? Orc Raiding Party = Tea Party? Shelob = Palin? ;-)

What really troubles me is the all-too-frequent bond between the Tea Party and those whose goal is to turn the U.S. into a Fundamentalist Christian theocracy. That said, the Tea Party and those who want to cut deficits, have some decent theoretical points. Problem is, most of them seem to want to cut funding for the most needy while ignoring the biggest rathole entitlement of all: the military with its endemic waste and corruption--and the three losing wars that have drained and continue to drain the treasury.

When the Tea Party erupted all those people protested a tax increase that hasn't come yet and some demonstrators rattled off about Obama's "Islamic-commie-socialistic-godless-..." agenda and I could see the programs playing in their heads. Then look at who MC'ed all this. It's a joke. Big egos foistering big words on sheep who know not what the words mean in the first place. Absolutely disgusting.

So how's it feel to lose all support, you commie traitor fascist parasites?
Phil Alexander - July 29, 2011 - Report this comment
Michael - does this mean you think that the Tea Party's actions have been orc-estrated by the (saru)-Man in power? Have to say, though - comments like that one just above: if that's typical of the "Tea Party" mentality, it shows just how mindbogglingly stupid and selfish these people are.

Compassion is an emotion or feeling. So, technically it does not have a limit. On the other hand, I have 10 loaves of bread, only ten, and eleven hungry supplicants. There was Someone who had the means to deal with such a dilemma, but that was long ago, and He wasn't me. My neighbor might have 2 loaves. Is it OK for me to take one of his? Why not both. Why can't he take all 10 of my loaves? While you are pondering the answer to that one, could you compassion me a new car. My needs are modest, a Hyundai will suffice. For now.
Michael Pacholek - July 30, 2011 - Report this comment
Patrick, the Someone you're talking about commanded you to GIVE away ALL your loaves. Look it up, He said that.
Patrick - August 01, 2011 - Report this comment
In which case someone would have to give me all of his loaves, which would then require me to pass them on. The world would end up looking like that restaurant in the Ozarks where the waitresses throw rolls at the customers. It would be a giant food fight. And still no one would be allowed to eat.

demoncrat compassion - tax those who are prosperous, give it to big business, illegals, and anywhere else votes can be bought. demoncrats threatened to with hold our vets' benefits while still giving illegals everything and they wanna appear compassionate? when it's someone elses money for votes or big business bail outs, demoncrats are very generous
