Smith Corona was a brand name of typewriter, back when typewriters were commonly used, such as when yours truly was in school. Unlike modern computers with word-processing software, they had no backspace or any way to delete characters typed by mistake. Corrections could be made by using Liquid Paper (invented by the mother of Mike Nesmith of the Monkees) or similar product. A composer named Leroy Anderson found another use for the typewriter - as a musical instrument.

Steve - Good job...very nostalgic! In this case, "type-casting" is highly appreciated. I not only know the Leroy Anderson piece but also have seen a hilarious pantomime of it by Jerry Lewis. One problem though-my five key is stuck! 555! ;D

I write all my parodies in a spiral notebook with a Bic pen. A Smith Corona manual is still a bit too high tech for me. Problem is, I'd have to use the internet to find someone who still sells typewriter ribbons. One advantage is that there are no pop-up ads and no f-head in Bosnia can hack into your machine and destroy it by remote control. I like your song, reminds me of the two manual machines I've got in a closet somewhere.
