The Lyrics

Since some people like doing parodies of songs from kids' shows I don't like, I thought I'd do one from a show I did like. I recently picked up "The Best of The Electric Company" on DVD, and was brought back to some times that made a hard childhood easier to bear. You might not remember this one if you're under the age of 30, but here's the original lyrics: http://home.triad.rr.com/electriccompany/n129.htm. Just imagine all these single words on signs in the city.
(instrumental opening)

You
like
fish
food?
Well
I
don't.

You
might
try
it
but
I
won't.

Walk
right
in
and
hear
me
true.

You
are
nuts
but
I
love
you!

Step
right
up
and
dance
a
dance

Make
sure
you
did
wear
your
pants.

Five
my
song
as
you
should
do.

You're
an
Elf
and
I
love
you!

(Now, you sing along. Y'hear?)

(repeat lyrics once)

(instrumental close)
If you preferred MTV to "The Electric Company," or "Sesame Street" after it became "The Elmo Show," then I got no use for you. But if you liked the real PBS, of back in the day, then you're as cool as Morgan Freeman playing Easy Reader. Hold on a second, somebody's knocking at the door... It's the plumber. He's come to fix the sink.

I watched Electric Company religiously, but I have no idea what that song is you used. (damn i want that DVD set BADLY). Couldn't you have picked something like "Un Song" or one of the hits by The Short Circus? ;)

What the hell was you on when you wrote this?! Please don't tell me you are turning into TSB now! Nevertheless, I found this a funny read.

Do the Box sets contain that song that goes, "Go, Hi, She...Got, Hip, Shed..."?

Agri: The DVD is now available at Borders for a mere $15, and I'm presuming it's available at Barnes & Noble, too. The only "Un Song" I know if is Rita Moreno channeling Tina Turner (in her Ike Age, pre-spiked red wig) to do "Unbutton Your Heart," and that's on it. But the Short Circus songs were kiddie material, which I usually don't like. Jason: Perish the thought. Ant: Yes, by all means page her, or else the end of this parody was a waste! Christy: That one doesn't sound familiar. I did remember this one, and another "Sign Song" that goes, "In. Stop. Park. Walk. Yield..." and so on until "Home... Sweet... Home." The $15, single-disk version has no Spider-Man material and only one Adventure of Letterman. The bigger ones, the $60 version, may have more, and I'll have to check them out.

Awww...=) It's a good thing that Red Ant paged me, or I certainly would have missed this. I'm only around a couple of days a week lately...(stupid busy work!)...but I'm glad that he yelled at me. This made my otherwise mundane morning FABulous. =)

No freaking way I would pass up the $60 set...jeez, 22 episodes...where else can you find Rita Moreno, Morgan Freeman, Bill Cosby, Gene Wilder, Joan Rivers, and Tom Lehrer all in the same place?
