Song Parodies -> "It's 'e.g.'"

Original Song Title:

"Let It Be"

Original Performer:

The Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"It's 'e.g.'"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

The Lyrics

Another in Phil's "Teach the nation" series of educational parodies... this one's on the difference between "e.g." (for example) and "i.e." (for instance).
When I give one, two or more examples
The letters that precede must be
Written words of wisdom: it's "e.g."
e.g. I mention doggies,
And I want to show a dog or three
I'll use "for example", it's "e.g."
It's "e.g.", it's "e.g.", it's "e.g.", it's "e.g."
When you're giving examples, it's "e.g."

But when the first thing that you write is
But one in a potpourri
Then, you see, the answer, is "i.e."
e.g. what gives me delight is
News or sport or Casualty
i.e. things on telly, it's "i.e."
It's "i.e.", it's "i.e.", it's "i.e.", it's "i.e."
For instance is the answer, it's "i.e."

I'm glad I'm not an English teacher
It's always seemed so clear to me
When to use examples, i.e. "e.g."
But when I read the English textbook
Muddled logic's all I see
What the heck's the problem with e.g.?
It's "e.g." or "i.e.", yep, "e.g." or "i.e."
Have you worked out the answer? One of these..
It's "e.g." or "i.e.", yep, "e.g." or "i.e."
What's the "e.g." problem with "i.e."?
