The Lyrics

Just when you thought it was safe to root for a certain football team... After all, He Who Shall Not Be Named is flapping his Jaws in Dallas! How do you blow a 24-7 second-half lead at home to Archie Manning's other son? And Jevon (the Freak) Kearse is out for the year with a knee injury? Hard to believe the Eagles actually became hopless before the Phillies did! That hasn't happened since... 1983, maybe?
Oy-yi-yi-yi...

Oy-yi-yi-yi...

Oy-yi-yi-yi...

Oy-yi-yi-yi...

Team keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping
down in the standings.
Team keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping
down in the standings.

I'm gonna
whine with the Eagles.
It's an L.
Whine with the Eagles.
This game has an awful smell.
I'm gonna
whine with the Eagles.
Feel like hell.
This team gives me such confusion.

Act like babies.
My cheesesteak I cannot eat.
Tantrum children.
Always stamping their feet.
Howling people
down on South Broad Street.
Language sounds like pollution!

I'm gonna
whine with the Eagles.
Come on, please!
Whine with the Eagles.
Got some nagging injuries.
I'm gonna
whine with the Eagles.
Brains still freeze.
Talk-radio, our retribution!

Team keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping
down in the standings.
Team keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping
down in the standings.
Team keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping
down in the standings.
Team keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping
down in the standings.

I'm gonna
whine with the Eagles.
This one hurts.
Whine with the Eagles.
Out for season, Jevon Kearse.
I'm gonna
whine with the Eagles.
It's a curse.
Never will be absolution!

Team keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping
down in the standings.
Team keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping
down in the standings.

(spaced-out fadeout... as spaced-out as Eagle fans)
Disclaimer: Although I root for a certain baseball team in New York (is there another?) and New Jersey's hockey and basketball teams, I root for the Eagles because I despise the Giants and Jets, for reasons I won't get into here. As for the other teams in Philly, I like the Phillies, I respect the 76ers' legacy, and I loate the Flyers, a.k.a. the Broad Street Bozos. Sooner or later, someone's gonna have to come up with a name for the reason the Eagles haven't won a World Championship since the closing days of the Eisenhower Administration. Their quarterback retired immediately thereafter, knowing their coach was also retiring and thinking he'd be the new coach. He wasn't. The Curse of Norm Van Brocklin?

This is why I'm not a sports fan, but I do curse bowling pins.
