The Lyrics

I wrote a parody for Rick D a week or so ago when he had the flu ("Every Wheeze You Make"). He's ok now (I think), but unfortunately his wife, Mari D, got it (hope you're better by the time this posts). I wanted to try to get something up right away for her but I got distracted by that pesky "1" guy and felt the need to post a song on that first. I don't think things are actually like this around the "D" household but then parodies are only sometimes about actual stuff. Hope they don't mind being foil for this one. I know Rick got a kick out of his. I hope this makes Mari more merry.
I've got a fever, not OK
I'm thinking that it's over One-Oh-One
I'm stuck in bed and aching, ain't no fun
Please feel my head, am I too hot?

Rick D, where's the thermometer?
It's not in the bathroom on the shelf
Did you go put it back dear, when you weren't well?
Rick D, this is a bummer
It's the only one we own
When you use it please put it back, dear,
When you are done

You had the flu last week and were in pain
You could not get air up through your nose
Had to stay inside and put on warm bedclothes
And all you did was bitch and moan

Rick D, where's the thermometer?
It's not in the bathroom on the shelf
Did you go put it back dear, when you weren't well?
Rick D, this is a bummer
It's the only one we own
When you use it please put it back, dear,
When you are done

You're pouting like I've been unkind
Why don't you knock it off, don't whine
Don't take that tone, no, don't you start

Rick D, where's the thermometer?
It's not in the bathroom on the shelf
Did you go put it back dear, when you weren't well?
Rick D, this is a bummer
It's the only one we own
When you use it please put it back, dear,
When you are done

Rick D, where's the thermometer...

Actually Mari did have a fever, and I hate that thermometer. (It's the only one we own) It's digital, and all you have to do is take it out when it reaches "normal" and you can kid yourself into feeling better. We are both much better, Mari played flute in her jazz band last night, and wowed them, as usual. I like the alliteration of "I hope it make Mari more merry". I actually used that when I proposed. I have a song that goes, "I'm gonna be merry when I marry Mari...." Looking forward to meeting you when you come up.

Dittos on what Rick said! What a kick! I really enjoyed this... cough, cough! And please stay healthy, too!

Great Steely Dan parody, Paul ( 5's ) - Rick and Mari - sending well-wishing vibes your way, you musical twosical. ;-D

Yeah - Hey guys get well. Nice parody Paul. I really like the Steely Dan stuff. This was well done. A bit off pace with the thermometer line or maybe it's just me, but I fived you anyway on this.

Rick & Mery Mari D - Glad you both enjoyed it. And very glad you're both feeling better. Very much looking forward to meeting both of you, and hopefully Leah, too. I'm pointing towards Jan. 8th, but I have to work out a few details first. Unless the weather drives me back to warmer L.A. I may spend a few weeks up with my old friends in Willits so I've to make sure I don't have anything important hanging down here. I just can't resist alliteration when a good one pops into my head - had to find a way to get that into this post. So much the better that it also struck a deep chord for you. Guy, No, you are right about the pace. No way around it, I couldn't find a way to shorten the sentence or re-shuffle the word mix to fit. And "thermometer" just doesn't have a way to contract it that still tells the reader what it is. Since I had just about the whole song in my head as soon as the idea came I went with it anyway. Thanks for cutting me some slack on that. The story just doesn't work without that. HEY! How'd this paragraph get above the one I just wrote to Johnny D? Oh, I did? ok. Well, then, as noted BELOW, I like the "Dan", too. I've have always really liked their "Countdown to Ecstasy" album. I've seen people do "Razor Boy" here but not much else that I've noticed. I didn't know if people would know the other songs but I see that's not a problem. Johnny D - Thanks! I like Steely Dan and hadn't done any yet. Yes, plenty of good, healthy vibes to you and to all. I like "musical twosical". That prompted "Dos Sickies" in my head, like the way that Mexican Beer brand is pronounced.

Heh heh...Mari, I hope you're feeling better. I've been lucky enough to escape the flu thus far, though I'm usually one of its first victims. Take care.

She's fine now. All ready to play for you.

BTW we listened to your CD and even played it for our friends... it's awesome! We we rolling on the floor! I don't know the names of the songs so I can't refer to one in particular... The capture of Saddam has now invalidated my favorite part of my most popular parody... so I'll need to do a re-write. ;-(
