"My Rutabaga Rose Out of Salt Lick"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Rutabaga is a bitter vegetable you can easily find in the south. Salt LIck is a fictional place (though there is a place in Kentucky with the same name...no resemblance implied). All of this is fictional, and it was fun to write. This is number 100 for me. Wooohooo!
She be the chick
Who stomped on my heart
And served it up like a fillet
Cooked me in the fryer,
Threw me in the fire
Then she sang the song La Grange.
Unrestray-ay-yained.

“Pass me the blender,”
Says she so tender.
“And pass that turpentine.”
She would blend it up
With some greenish stuff
Then she drinks up and sighs,
“Satisfie-aye-yied!”

There goes the Rutabaga Rose out of Salt Lick
There goes the Rutabaga Rose out of Salt Lick, my chick through and through
My belle,
A fight chick
A bright chick
The right chick
I say she’s my tease and I’m her toy,
She kinda owns me.

Her temp’rament
We’ll say is bizarre
Dual sides she will display
Beating bikers up, see her playin’ tough
Cool it down with lemonade
She’s a day-ay-yame.

See her so hip
She flows a la carte
Stockings both pink and crocheted
Boots with pretty flowers
Smells of curry powder
Jacket with her web domain
‘Not_Munday-ay-yane.'

I love that Rutabaga Rose out of Salt Lick
I love that Rutabaga Rose out of Salt Lick, my chick through and through
My belle
A snide chick
A dyed chick
A wide chick
I say she’s the freak and I’m her boy
She kinda owns me.

And don’t ya know that she’s the pretty girl in tow-ohh-woun
With all her teeth you know she grins and then I’ll me-yow-ow.

I love my Rutabaga Rose out of Salt Lick
I love my Rutabaga Rose out of Salt Lick
I love my Rutabaga Rose out of Salt Lick
I love my Rutabaga Rose out of Salt Lick, my chick through and through

So much to say, so little time! First, great job! Second, Salt lick is indeed in Kentucky! So is La Grange (there is a major state prison there). Third, I didn;t know you you had a sister named Ruta (oh, sorry...I thought you said Ruta Baker!). Finally, congrats on your century! This is a worthy hundredth. ;D

Great job, and welcomr to the 100 club, Warren! I hit mine last year, and celebrated this way: http://www.amiright.com/parody/80s/theproclaimers16.shtml

Hilarious..love the contrast you show, between her flowery boots, and her "de.meaner" etc. Origin of Salt Lick, where I hail from..midwest farm country..refers to the block of salt placed in the cattle yards, for their consumption...all around good work, and stating she had all her teeth was a nice touch, and rather remarkable, considering those fights with bikers..lol

OMR- Thanks a bunch, OMR. I do indeed have a sister, but alas her name is Cheryl. She was so disappointed she didn't make it in the song!
Mark- Nice take on the Proclaimers. Definitely a 'Why didn't I think of that?'. Like you, I'm committed to writing more and more. Somehow, I can't seem to stop!
AFW- Your comments are much appreciated. I'm glad the contrasts came through. I really didn't want to do a simple 'she's such a brute' type song...just do a different take.
Diva- I love your comments! And I'll have to remember the Salt Lick City line. Mind if I use it?!
And to all the gracious and talented folk on AIR, thanks to each of you for all of the encouragement that pushed me to post and experiment. Looking forward to writing another 100 more...
