The Lyrics

Milestone parody - I'm declaring that anyone who passes 700 writes shall be inducted into the 700 Club. The nine writers who have more parodies than me are hereby retroactively inducted into the 700 Club. This parody is the theme song for the PTL Club and will remain so if and until which time members of PTL would decide on the message board to change the official theme song by a democratic vote. Any member can proudly say he/she is a member of PTL once reaching this coveted milestone! I need an acronym for PTL. I was going to give it one but I will let you, the loyal readers decide with your comments what PTL should stand for. Voting on the name of the acronyn shall commence immediately upon publication of this parody. Voting will close five posting days after this parody is published. The votes will then be tallied and the acronym with the most votes will become what PTL stands for. Therein the PTL title shall be mandated as the official name for the 700th parody milestone. In the event of a tie I will do a "Dick Cheney" on it and break the tie, since I out-rank the speaker of this rouse.

Many references in the parody below are from other parodies I have done or plan to. All references to past parodies I have done are in double quotes. It’s like a “Where’s Waldo” search, so get crackin’. There is a maximum of only 699 parodies to scan through in order to find them all. Show us what you have found through the comments section. Have fun – I did.

DISCLAIMER _ Beware, there may be a red herring or two in the quotes. Also some quoted refs may be in more than one parody.

It has been a total blast and my pleasure being on this site with all you wonderful, whacked out bards. I stand in honor in your company. Enjoy and thanks for the welcome back. I’m stickin’ around for a while.

Hey, I just realized,
That this here parody,
On Chucky's website,
Almost like immortality.
Parody wise,
Keep up with you guys with glee.
Sometimes a chore boy, spoofin' a symphony,
I write 'em cheesy some, sleazy yo,
Wit'll sly, piddle show,
Anyway the song goes, just try to make it badder, you see,
That's me.

“'sama, Let's kill that man”,
The one on "Lady's Head",
Go an' figger she weren't dead,
“Yama”, drunk cook at Shogun's,
“He tossed one long and life he took away”,
“Comma”, oo oo-oo oo, “Did I let just one slip by”,
I'm due real soon to do one on "Tomorrow".
Kerry drawn, “Kerry gone”, I just couldn't be much gladder.

Can't wait for lines to come,
Deliver the right line,
Keep 'em laughin' pace and time.
I'll fry anybody, None's safe ya know?
Post a kick to their behind and “raise the roof”.
Ha-Ha oo oo-oo oo, (anyway the song goes)
I can't tell a lie,
When I write this, I never get bored at all.

I do some little silly wit-o when I can,
Like a “chooch” drinkin' hooch, need to find the right angle. [1]
Hundred odes times seven, strivin' for that lev-i-ty.
Holy halos, “Hold the mayos”,
Those “gay guyos”, mio my-o,
Stroke the e-go-figure-o gag-gaffin' so oh oh oh.

Room full of monkeys that's "Saddams Family",
Not such a chore boy, writin' these parodies.
'Merican Pie can be scull-duggery.
“Cheesy some, sleazy no”, will you vote or no,
Godzilla! No! Though I saw Tok-e-yo - Tok-e-yo.
Godzilla! No! I may write one you know - Tok-e-yo.
Godzilla! No! Though I did Tok-e-yo - Tok-e-yo.
Or North Korea, “South Korea”, North Korea, nuc-lee-o.
Just words we sub; Take the devil for a ride, oo-wee-e-e oo-wee-e-e oo-wee!

So don't think writing sloppy won't get our sharp eye,
You can write it real lovely, or on stage you'll die.
The Navy, can you do "In the Navy"?
Just write it on out, just writin' right outta here.

Oo oo-oo oo, Yeah, oo yeah.

Nothing so quite flatters,
Like a par-o-dy,
Nothing so quite flatters; Nothing so quite flatters, oo-wee,

Any way the song goes.

Flattering - I wonder what the original artists would think. Which is more phenominal - the parody that gets the most votes or the song that gets the most parodies?

Walt - Don't let this song scare you. One of the stumbling blocks to doing this song is that is has no chorus. Two - it is more like an opera. Three - make up line words like `I do some little silly wit-o when I can`, thus adding '-O` to complete the internal rhyme and pace of the OS. Four - have a solid based theme in mind with enough fodder to get the job done. Hope this helps. Phil - Thanks for the suggestions for PTL all. And congrats and welcome to alvin and Phil as Proud Twisted Lyrics members of PTL. My faves so far are Praise The Lyrics & Pushing The Limit. We need more ideas!!!

AFW & Malcum - Your PTL membership cards will arrive in the mail within 30 days after receipt of application for same, along with everyone else who has or will cross over this threshold and mark this milestone. Just send self addressed stamped envelope along with check or money order of only $29.95 for shipping & handling, to G. DiRito 9890 Collier Bluff, Corncob, Iowa 51055. I know that the S & H fees are high but Don Carmine demands his tribute for any business that I conduct, or as he says "else". I know some have crossed over a ways back but I just wanted to pay a tribute to all who have written their way into history. Thanks - it is indeed an honor to write with the greatest parody writers ever assembled on one site.

An outstanding ode in celebration of quantity without regard to quality. An example of the author’s fingers typing faster than his mind thinks is the statement, “I stand in honor in your company." I think that what he meant is that he stands in awe of the other parody authors, but perhaps he did mean what he wrote. This would confirm my second point - that this is a very self-serving parody.

Congrats on 700, Guy! Great job with this one! How about PTL=Parodist, Top Level, Parody Total Leader, Praise The Lexicon, Precious Time Lost, Puppies Taste Lousy, Pop Tune Lampoon, Pass The Lard, Parodists Take Liberties, Parodies Toast Lyrics, Past Time to Leave.

at this rate I'll NEVER have a 700th parody I have a TERRIBLE case of writers block but congrats to you! 535
Guy - November 04, 2007 - Report this comment
Jonathan - I never thought I'd get this far and I had a 2 1/2 year gap writing on this site. I sat in number three position with William Tong in first and Malcolm Higgins in second for quite a spell. Please remember this; it's not the quantity of parodies you write but the quality of said parodies. I am so glad that I am no longer 3rd on the site because it gives you this sense that you must maintain or surpass the person above you and this makes for bad parody writing. Now I'm putting out about one a day and only on week days. I leave the weekends to write. It's a lot nicer when you don't worry about position or anything like those kinds of detractors. Take a look at some of the better writers on this site. They don't concentrate on quantity. Take Spaff for instance. He is not a prolific writer but when he writes everyone reads and comments. You just have to let your mind wander when you are listening to music and hear the misheard lyrics and make something from them or better yet visit the misheard lyrics portion of this site and see if you can get any ideas. Some of my best songs came from there. I've had writers block as I am sure almost everyone on this site has. It will pass. The more you concentrate on it the worse it gets. It's like insomnia. Most people have insomnia because they are worried about having insomnia.

Thanks for your comment and I hope your cramp will subside soon.

It has been 5 full posting days since the request to name theacronym that PTL should stand for. Voting begins immediately. Voting will close on Monday 12, Nov. 2007 at 11:59 PM US CDT. Votes will be tallied on the 13th and the winner will be announced via comment on this thread. Anyone can vote and you may vote for your own if you like and don't let 2-LOUD intimidate you into voting for his. He gave me his "woid" that he would not stuff the ballot box. He owed me a favor so I made good on it.

Vote early and vote often. Here are your choices.
