Parody Song Title:

"I Believe"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

The original final couplet was:

"I believe that the Devil is waiting to repent
But I can't believe Ronald Reagan is president"

..all I've done to this is update it a bit
I believe that what ain't bad is really good
I believe Lester Piggott's been misunderstood
I believe that bears do really shit in woods
I believe, yes, I believe.

I believe that global warming's here for sure
I believe that Windows Vista is secure
I believe that the colour of skin, it should be bluish
And I believe that Pope Benedict is Jewish

Yes, I believe that George Bush is clever
That The Queen will live for ever
Morse's middle name's "Endeavour"
And the best pop music trio was The Wevver
...Girls

I believe that McDonalds burgers contain meat
And that Macaulay Culkin's rather sweet
I believe that The Weakest Link is bright and merry
And that Eastenders is deep social commentary

I believe that Simon Cowell's kind and witty
And that Ann Widdecombe is really pretty
I believe that Maggie Simpson shot Liberty Valance
I believe Fox News really is "fair and balanced"
And I believe that mountains are lit'rally moved by prayer
But I can't believe Boris Johnson is London Mayor

TJC - I think you'd need to be aware of things both sides of the pond to get all the references: are there any in particular you'd like explained?
AFW - thanks.

Thanks, Jason - The OS is from a 70s satirical sketch show - I can't remember exactly how old you are, but I have a feeling it may have been a bit before your time. Unfortunately, this one doesn't seem to have hit YouTube like a lot of the old NTNON sketches (strongly recommend having a browse - especially Gerald the Gorilla & Constable Savage)

Sir Phil, some of this did run past me, being here 'across the ~At~ pond'. But did the British govt. have anything to do with Princess Diana's tragic demise ?

LittleCupCakes - you'd need to be a conspiracy theorist of the first order to believe that the British govt. had something to do with Diana's death, or the very rich father of one of the other casualties.
Glen - I guess I'll be around for a while yet...
PMS - Thanks - the OS is very liberal in its pacing: I've taken the occasional liberty, more than I normally would, but very much in the spirit of the original. I'll have to get round to recording it as I can't find the OS on the web anywhere.
