I made the big mistake of trying to watch Mr. Bush give a speech last week. When he's not just flat-out lying (infuriating) he tortures the language with parsed denials that make Bill Clinton's obfuscations about "sex" seem rather straight-forward. I think even Orwell would be taken aback if he were still alive. I also saw an interview Matt Lauer did with him...Mr. Bush reminded me of a cornered weasel when Lauer asked him to get specific about the "techniques" that had been used that Mr. Bush did not consider "torture". Mr. Bush refused to discuss it saying: "We cannot let our enemies know what methods we use"...Uh...Duh...so let me get this straight, it would be a problem if Al Queda knew we were doing what just about everybody in the whole freaking world knows we were doing. OK, even if I were to suspend disbelief on that I'd have to say, "So What?". I think we should all keep in mind that what we do to captives becomes part of our greater legacy. If you don't think so reflect back to how the Germans and Japanese were of thought of as a result of how they treated American POW's in WW II. I try to make it a practice not to wish bad things on people in this lifetime. This guy makes me hope there's an afterlife because if there is he's gonna spend a long freaking time strapped to a waterboard...anyway, apologies for the long-winded commentary, but it's hard to just let Mr. Bush's shenanigans pass by without remark.
