The Lyrics

There's a lawyer who knows
All my assets are froze
Now I'm buying relief through Chapter 7
And when he gets through I know
I'll owe him some more dough
And he'll get all the fee he has worked for

Woe oh oh oh oh...
And I'm stumbling down the stairs to Chapter 7

He'll send notice to all
Who cannot make me crawl
Cause the lawsuits they file have no meaning
But the robins still sing
And the church bells still ring
All the best things are still freely given

Woe oh oh oh oh .....
And my lawyer has filed Chapter 7

There's a load off my back
I can start over, jack
All those rude, pesky guys will stop phoning
And I'm not feeling down
When I'm out on the town
I'll pay cash so I will not be owing

Woe oh oh oh ....
Yes I'm getting some relief through Chapter 7

And then sometime in June
I'll be free as a loon
And the vipers will back down forever
All my care will be blown
Like the grass when it's mown
I'll remain so debt free, everafter

I will fix my blunder

If there's a chance for starting over
I'll get in line now
It's like a spring clean, through the court scene

Yes there is 13 and there's 7
But cause I want out
Chapter 7 is the one I want

A meeting's coming and I must go because I must show
The creditors can come with papers
And I will sign them cause they say so and then I will go
And have a couple of boiler makers

And as I drop that heavy load
I'll try to walk a better road
Cause time is precious well I know
And all that glitters is not gold
Alot of things are bought and sold
And sometimes lessons can be hard
But hold yourself in high regard
Cause all we have is what we are
And everyone's a kind of star
Woe oh oh oh oh
And I'm buying some relief with Chapter 7

There's a lawyer who sees
Chapter 7's for me
And he's filing a thing called Chapter 7
When he gets through he knows
All my assets are froze
But he'll still get the fee he has worked for

And I'm buying some relief with Chapter 7

If it's a true personal story, Royce, I wish you all the best with your new economic reality....555.

Johnny, I appreciate that.

Nice parody, Royce...I hope it's not a true story. I'm being picky, but your line "Now I'm buying relief through Chapter 7" has one syllable too many...unless you pronounce a word differently to me. That's the only fault I could find...well done 455

Royce, I had the same problem Kristof had, and I was going to go "4" in pace but the rest of the parody was so completely spot-on pace-wise that I don't see it as that big a flaw. And it really is the only flaw I could find in the entire piece. You really did a fine job and told the story quite well. 5-5-5 - It also looks like this piece has some personal relevance - If that is so I'd be willing to wager that you'd land on your feet (OH...wait, I just remembered - I gave up gambling many years ago...)

good one, phil....it reminds me of a joke...when mike tyson filed for bankruptcy, they said it was the first time he had got to chapter 11 of anything

Poignant piece, Royce. I liked the boiler makers line. I am sure you will be doing fine when this blows over.

This parody gets an early nomination from me for Best Financial parody!

Royce, you have my sympathy and my empathy. I owe 15,000.00 to the IRS and I get laid off in two weeks - EEK! Hope all goes as well as this parody did. 555.

Yeah, "And I'm buying relief through Chapter 7" was the only flawed line I found. And are you sure your parody was based on Tiny Tim's version of the song? Zeppelin's version varies a little bit from the version you parodied. I nevertheless gave you 5-5-5.

Great job and best financial wishes to you -- regardless of whether this is based on a true story.

Oooh yes - been there, done that. Good parody Royce.

Wow, Royce, and I thought you were only morally bankrupt! (Just a joke, just a joke!)
