The Lyrics

Well, a death in my friends' famaly shortened my month long vacation into a week long mini. I did manage to write this on the road back from Colorado, maybe inspired by the Rocky Mountains, and the news that Stallone was making Rocky VI. This is Stallone in ROCKY XXVII
He was floored by a plummer in his 27th film
Landing flat on his face, died at the count of four
He had many bouts behind him, the crowd thought he would rise again
Though I think we heard a plea of "Please no more!"

When we first saw him in ROCKY he was all work no play
Runnin' roads and training to a song
Now his teeth were mostly broken and he didn't have much hair
It was turning out that this was his swan song

'Because gawd-a-mighty Rocky fine'ly died
We saw his breath expire with a sigh
The shadow punch that killed him was softer than a butter-fliiiiy
Rocky fine'ly died (died from a shadow), Rocky fine'ly died (died from a shadow)

He'd climbed between the ring ropes, and saw doctors down below
There were paramedics far as he could see
They say that he was eighty one, and couldn't touch his toes
He had lost an eye and all his memory

He was bold for a geezer-weight, his dentures all a-gleam
Wheezing bad with every breath he takes
His nose was flat beside his cheeks, inflated prostate gland
An affinity for cold brew, MOUNDS and cakes

But now gawd-a-mighty Rocky fine'ly died
He's in that boxer's ring in the sky
If you talk to God you'll find out, even HE was bored up hiiiiigh
Rocky fine'ly died (died from a shadow), Rocky fine'ly died (died from a shadow)

At his grave we stood and wondered at the punch that took him down
Was a shadow punch that did not even land
But the thought of making one more film, or maybe a couple more
Poor Rocky, was more than he could stand

So now gawd-a-mighty Rocky fine'ly died
I'd seen it comin' since XXV (twenty five)
They'd all become so boring, I would rather watch a baby cryyyyyy
Rocky fine'ly died

It's a cryin' shame, but Rocky fine'ly died
I watched his final film with a sigh
Audience was spellbound, all three of us criiiiied
Rocky fine'ly died (died from a shadow), Rocky fine'ly died (died from a shadow)

Rocky fine'ly died (died from a shadow)

Rocky fine'ly died (died from a shadow)

Well that's somewhat of a coincidence, Dee. The day I post my first parody with a boxer in it (at least as far as I can recall) I see another boxing-related piece. Good work...Sorry about that friend of the family, though...5's...
