The Lyrics

For some reason, this is a news story... seems like Jerry Lewis said the "F"-word in the middle of a 16-hour charity telethon, and of course, nearly using a word so heinous obviously negates all the good of hours of charity fundraising, doesn't it?

Is it really such a big deal? (with thanks to Red Ant for finding the link)
What? Somebody said "Fag"? (Fag fag, faggoty fag)
He said "Fag" (Fag fag, faggoty fag)
Who said "Fag"? (Fag fag, faggoty fag)
He said "Fag" (Fag fag, faggoty fag)
Jerry Lewis - did he say that: "Fag"?

(Fag) A row from nothing doesn't make much sense
(Fag) Watching a telethon to take offence

(He said "Fag") It ain't as though he's an offensive bloke
(Fag) For sixty years he's been telling that joke
Now it seems that people want their Lewis spit-roast
Yeah, for just one slip-up Jerry Lewis is toast

(Fag) It seems Americans, they just don't get
(Fag) That the word "Fag" it means a cigarette
(He said "Fag") Was he suggesting maybe having a smoke?
(Fag) I guess that smokin' now's beyond a joke

Listenin' again, did he say "Fat"?
Critics have been vicious
And I don't get that

When he said that, seems he had to be
On a sixteen-hour gig for kiddies' charity
Now the knives are out, like he's some abortion
Why can't they find themselves some sense of proportion?

He said "Fag" (Fag fag, faggoty fag)
He said "Fag" (Fag fag, faggoty fag)
Who said "Fag"? (Fag fag, faggoty fag)
He said "Fag" (Fag fag, faggoty fag)
Jerry Lewis - did he say that: "Fag"?

Lewis, get out of here !

When I was young it used to be such a treat
Because a "faggot" is spicy (usually pork) meat
Now from the screamin' and hollerin' loud
I'm gone and found it's a word no longer allowed

He said "Fag" (Fag fag, faggoty fag)
Who said "Fag"? (Fag fag, faggoty fag)
He said "Fag" (Fag fag, faggoty fag)
He said "Fag" (Fag fag, faggoty fag)

Can you take the piss?
No, not like that:
"Fag"

How do people find the energy to continually be offended at stuff? beats me - I'm no Jerry Lewis fan (lately) but jeez, lighten up people (whoops, I mean jeepers) - nicely done Phil -555

Thanks for the mention and excellent turn around time here, Phil. Loved "fag fag faggoty fag" - reminds me of Cartman in the South Park movie saying a similar line.

I'm with stuart on this one... sainted fundraiser, or perhaps he's a homophobic genius in France?

:-)
stu - I know exactly what you mean. Too many people take too much offence at too little provocation
Red Ant - it was that going round the back of my head that made me write this one. I didn't have much choice in the matter...

I thought it was "fat" too, and I listened to it over and over. Methinks some of us are hypersensitive these days and go out of our way to find things to be offended by. As for the song - excellent pacing. I played Nag with my band for years, and I could really read all the nuances and change-ups. Thanks for the laugh. :)
