The Lyrics

I'm on badave.com . . .
Please go zip up your fly!
Please go zip up your fly

I see your Hanes right now dude
Things I hope I never see no more
Like one eyed willy
or little pubeys
That's what the middles buttons for
Now now now , It's time I told you
(Told You) (Told You)
How to let friends know
(Let your friends know)
Forgot to look down, after his leak
What you need to do is make sure you speak

XYZ
Zip up that zipper please
Or tell them to stop the wink
XYZ, Zip it please, because that means your showing

XYZ
It means there's too much to see
So could you zip up your jeans
XYZ, check and see, chances are you forgot to zip now

Come on, dude your showing off your underwear
Come on, dude your showing off your underwear
There is a way you can tell them how
X it, Y it, Z it
They should know what that means by now

Laughing, joking or point at it
But think about when it's you next week
You gotta let them know when they're giving a wink
or it's gonna come on back times three
D-D-D-David's gonna tell ya
(Tell ya, Tell ya)
How to say it nice
(How to say it nice)
One two, three--letters will do
Say them really quickly when they look at you

Yes, XYZ
Don't tell them all that you see
It's nicer than saying "eek"
XYZ, Zip up please, Gotta, zip your pants up

(chorus in background)
Check it please, if someone says XYZ
It means look down at your jeans
Zip it up before more peak
Zip it up before more peak
Could you check your zipper please
XYZ, look and see

(ya)

Dammit, Guy
I thought I told ya!
No!
Check your fly
You know what you should do
Zip It, Zip It, buddy, Zip up now!
Zip it, Zip it, buddy, ooo nooo
Zip it, Zip it, buddy, yeah

XYZ, buddy, ooh ooh
Zip it please, buddy, yeah yeah
All can see, buddy WOAH
The best way to be discreet
(Chorus in background)
It's breazy, just check between your knees
Before people take a peak
That's why we say XYZ

You gotta say it really soft

X it, Y it, Z it
Now before you hear the people shout

XYZ, I'm queasy, saw way more than I should see
Check after you take a pee
Could you just do that for me

If somebody says it now you know what it's about
Say it now, hear it, zip , hear it, zip, hear it

(Chorus variations till fade out)

Not sure I understand the title sub/alphabetic refrain's specific significance, but that didn't seem too problematic with ample funny lines, good pacing and a coherent story. :-)
Matthias - November 11, 2008 - Report this comment
Agreeance with Stan, never heard the phrase "XYZ" before... I think I mentioned that when you pitched (the tent) kidding! The idea originally, but this was still pretty good.
Papageno - November 11, 2008 - Report this comment
To explain what dave meant by XYZ, it stands for "(e)xamine your zipper" and wasn't made up for this song. There are several entries for it on Urban Dictionary dating back to as early as 2003. Hope this helps.

great concept...lol

I also don't get the title, but the take-off is funny. How about "BVD"? Security code is RWZ, FYI, BTW.

Must be a regional thing. I do know of "ABC Gum", how about you. But, back to the subject, we boys would say, "Do you have a license to sell hot dogs?" I don't know what girls said, though. :) 555 especially for a highly original idea.
McKludge - November 11, 2008 - Report this comment
We were using the XYZ term (sometimes with the added PDQ right after) in elementary school back in the 70s in PA, so I don't think it's a new or regional thing. Of course, nowadays, people are probably more direct and/or crude about .

Thank You Guys!

Stan, Matthias, John Barry, Agrimorfee see "Papageno" or "McKludge" but actually that's one of the reason's I wrote this, the term is one I first heard in 2004, and when it was first said to me I had no idea what it meant, figured I'd spread it's use.

Thanks again everyone:)

Sir B+A+D, I'm hoping that the new movie, Austrailia, which features the 1940's, will bring back elegance & sexiness into our clothing fashion! Those sagging pants & rubberThongs of the ~RicePaddyDaddies~ are a truly disjusting Turn-Off!

XYZ - usually followed by PDQ. or in this case 555. Glad I already entered "Zip Up Your Fly" many rounds ago. =)

(ABC5) I managed to figure out for myself what XYZ stood for (still don't know what PDQ means), and I'm surprised you managed to get that much material out of such a limited topic. Great job, 555, etc etc
Andria - December 16, 2009 - Report this comment
Great job, B.A. Dave, and as mentioned above, you wrung a lot out of a topic that doesn't leave much to work with, as well as an OS that can be tricky to parody since there are a finite number of three-letter acronyms that make sense to everyone. 5s. Bobpiecheese: PDQ means "Pretty Damn Quick", "Pretty Darn Quick", or "Please Do Quickly".
