Original Song Title:

"Move It On Over"

Original Performer:

George Thorogood (Hank Williams)

Parody Song Title:

"Roomin' With Grover"

Parody Written by:

Claude Prez

The Lyrics

I was livin on the Street I was
all alone
This furry blue monster offered
me his home
I was
Roomin with Grover
Shackin with Grover
I didn't pay no rent
to that dark blue gent
From PBS

Well I drank too much and I was
ready to spray
That furry blue monster just
Got in my way
I was
Pukin on Grover
Ralphin on Grover
I just let it fly
On that cute little guy
From PBS

We were out in the snow when I
suddenly said
"I can't believe that I
forgot my sled"
I was
Lugin' on Grover
Slidin' on Grover
Then I built a fort
With that downright sport
from PBS

A little bit later we went
out to the bar
That furry blue monster gave
me a cigar
I had a
Cuban on Grover
A fat one on Grover
Well it's no surprise
from those Pinko guys
at PBS

Lubriderm Grover
Ramadan Grover
Hoover Dam Grover
Taliban Grover
You don't get no crap
from that blue chap
at PBS

When I clicked on this parody I thought "Oh know, it's another parody thats not going to make sense..rooming with Grover..oh no"..but I read it, and although it started out like i thought it would, it actully made me laugh....I don tknow how you do it Claude, but you somehow take a parody idea that should be going no where, and making it into a decently funny parody (Thats funny because its just weird...kinda like the Ghetto john complex lol) Good job

BTW, that wasnt a slur at Ghetto John :-)

I've never seen Grover depicted in this way. Very interesting indeed.

I loved what you did with this song! Very inventive. Would you be angry if I added a few verses here in the comments section?
Claude Prez - April 21, 2003 - Report this comment
Thanks Bob. No, I would not be angry; I'd actually be kind of honored.

That's hilarious, Bob! I particularly like the "stewin'" verse. And thanks for staying away from the all-too-obvious "Lubin' up Grover" verse. Because that would be wrong.
Bob Gomez - April 22, 2003 - Report this comment
Yeah. Almost as wrong as "Spoogein' on Grover."

(ABCs) The most wrong line, however, is blatantly apparent in the second verse: 'Ralphin' on Grover'? HOW DID YOU KNOW?! ;) Nice parody.

(ABC)Frank Oz would be steamed to read this one. Pretty goofy! 555

(ABC) I really didn't see anything *that* funny about this one. I'm gonna have to be mean and only give you 4s ;-).

Thanks for the comments all.

Well done, Claude. My favorite line was the cheap shot at PBS pinkos.

As a Gen X'er who grew up with Sesame Street, I have mixed feelings about this parody: it started out funny enough, but implying that any Muppet has a sex life or that all PBS supporters are Communists is going too far IMO. 5-3-4...
Phil Alexander - September 15, 2004 - Report this comment
Fortunately my children have never really been into Sesame Street.. but I guess the number for today is 5
The Mixmaster - February 28, 2006 - Report this comment
I hate Sesame Street. Really. To have the narrator hang out with Grover... just silly, wrong, and juvenile. The pacing's OK, and the crack about the pinkos at PBS prevents this from getting triple 1s. I give this a 4-3-2.
