The Lyrics

This is my 2nd parody of the same Genesis song “All in a Mouse’s Night.” I know my Total Recall album parody is still under development, but the following song parody is based on the church scene of the recent Gotham TV episode, “Tonight’s the Night” (Season 2 Episode 8). The scene is about where Barbara Keen shows up at the church in a wedding gown and holds Detective Jim Gordon (Barbara’s ex-boyfriend) and Dr. Leslie Thompkins hostage in the sanctuary. Barbara holds a shotgun, instead of a bouquet. There are also tied-up witnesses in the sanctuary, who Barbara would call “wedding guests,” I guess. Anyways, Jim, Barbara, and Leslie sing the parts of the following song parody. WARNING: There may be a spoiler below.
(As the music beings, Barbara walks down the aisle in her wedding gown towards Jim Gordon, who is tied to his wheelchair. While Barbara walks down the aisle, I announce “Here comes the bride, all dressed in white. What’s that she’s holding? It’s not a bouquet. It’s a shotgun. What is she going to do to Jim?” As Barbara points the shotgun at Jim, Jim breaks into song.)

***Jim Gordon*** (singing to Barbara):

I see you’re here in your wedding gown
You’re a pointing a gun at me, and you’re letting me down
You’re so crazy and you try to kill me
You say I've been lying about you to Leslie

***Barbara Kean*** (pointing the gun at Jim):

Can’t you see I got a shotgun?
Can’t you see you have nowhere to run
Away from this cathedral?

(A “wedding guest”, untied that is, brings Dr. Leslie Thompkins in a wheelchair to Barbara, and then Barbara continues singing)

I see Leslie sitting next to you
And she wants to hear the truth from you
She wants it all

***Jim Gordon*** (singing to Barbara):

Barbara Kean, you have a sick mind, you’re so messed up
You’re going crazy, cause we broke up
Nowhere to run, and nowhere to hide
You say you still love me, but you are not really my bride

Barbara, why won’t you set me free?
Can’t you take the tape off of the mouth of Leslie?

(Barbara takes the tape off of Leslie’s mouth)

***Dr. Leslie Thompkins*** (singing to Barbara):

Come on, Barbara, please let us both go
You will not marry or kill Jim, oh hell no!
I think you’ve been brainwashed by Galavan
You will not kill us, and Jim is not your man

***Barbara Kean*** (singing to Leslie):

I may be crazy, but I am no whore
You love Jimmy, but I just love him more
It’s love on the rocks

(Barbara puts the gun down on the ground near Jim’s wheelchair)

***Barbara Kean*** (singing to Jim):

Jim, I'm getting sick of your stupid lying games
But I will tell you that Mayor Aubrey James
Is at China Docks

(Jim breaks out of the chair, picks up the shotgun, and points it at Barbara.)

***Jim Gordon*** (singing to Barbara):

I broke out of this wheelchair, I got your shotgun
Put your stupid hands up, you better not run
I am warning you, because we hear some sounds
Of Gotham law enforcement arriving around

They are surrounding this cathedral
Put your hands high, or you will die for us all

(Barbara runs up the stairs to the second floor of the church towards the attic, as she continues singing)

***Barbara Kean*** (Singing to Jim, as Jim shoots a couple of gang members):

Hey Jimmy, come and catch me if you can
You will never arrest me, because you are still my man
I am gonna hide in this attic
Even though I just love you, you think I’m sick

(Then, Jim climbs to the attic, and finds Barbara in there.)

***Jim Gordon*** (singing to Barbara):

But we must end this stupid fight
It’s been a deadly wedding night

***Jim Gordon’s Story to Dr. Leslie Thompkins***:

There I saw the bride’s back to the wall
She climbed out the window, and chose to fall
Fifty feet from the roof
She has broken her bones

(While the finishing music plays, Jim Gordon, outside the church, turns around and looks at the ambulance driving away with Barbara’s injured body to the hospital. Then, Jim says, “Why did you have to do this to me, Barbara?”)
By the way, it has been a long time since I’ve written song parodies. Theo Galavan is the main antagonist of the Gotham episode. Galavan is not featured in the church scene, but he is featured in some of the other scenes in the same episode. Galavan definitely is the “evil mayor” who would hire Barbara Kean to kill Jim Gordon. If you don't know where Gotham takes place, it takes place in the origins of Batman and his villains. Who knows? I could be writing musical tributes to the TV show, Gotham.
