Parody Song Title:

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

So it looks like our choice will be (A) a career politician from New York, or (B) a career politician from New York. Those of us in the other 49 states would be more comfortable with those options if the contest were only for, say, Grand Marshall of the Macy's Day Parade.

But whatcha gonna do? Sing, that's what. Get this on the brand-new Robert Lund CD Politicked Off!
Just turned on the news
And guess what they say:
Who leads the Presidential race?
New York's two dorks!

Conservative schmooze
Or liberal cliché
Is this the choice I have to face?
New York's two dorks?

How did I end up
In a country where candidates
All go to Capitol Hill
From just one place?

My state feels misused
We're light years away
But who pretends to know the place?
New York's two dorks!

If they can fake it there
They'll fake it everywhere
It's come down to
New York's two dorks

New York's two dorks!

I'm gonna wake up
At the end of 2008
And find electoral votes
Don't pull much weight
Capitol Hill's
An Empire State!

Those Little Rock blues
Chased her to Broadway
While he has rarely shown his face
Outside New York

And - we'll end up hers or his
The only real distinction is
One's red, one's blue!
New York's two dorks!

You dorks!

Now THIS is the insightful kind of political commentary you just don't get from the networks. 555

Spaff - my motto is piss off the republicans and Guy - vote Hillary and Obama into the White House. Hill a dork? (Oh, right, I keep forgetting that Mitt Romney is right up there with Donny & Marie in the Utah Hall of Fame.) Guy, how the hell are ya? Glad you're back - you left JJ to be the only right-winger on this site with an actual sense of humor. Spaff, I'm voting for the female Dork. And what the hell is the Macy's Day Parade?
Michael Pacholek - October 29, 2007 - Report this comment
Well, you're half-right, Spaff. "New York's Two Dorks" are actually Red Sox Rudy and Alex "Pay-Rod" Rodriguez. One gone, and one gone in the head! As for you, five RBIs.

Lots of time left... we can hope things change.... And considering that the US hasn't elected a POTUS from the Northeast in almost fifty years, there's good reason to hope.... oh, and didja notice a third choice paid a visit to AFW's post? 555.

Well of course this was just fabulous...and if you can find the right OS, the theme could work for what's happening in the UK with Gordon "I'm from Scawtlan', ye wee English precks" Brown and David "Hug A Hoodie" Cameron....think I'll move to Vanuatu. 555+

Rex: No kidding. News reporters don't use the word "dork" nearly enough.

John: Mike Agrelius collaborated with Robert Lund on a series of Clinton-themed CDs back in the 90s and reemerged to put this new CD together. I agreed to work on some of his ideas; with this one, for example, he had the idea to parody "New York, New York" about Hillary and came up with the "fake it" for "make it" and "Little Rock" for "little town" subs.

Guy: Just as I'm exclaiming about how it seems like 2003 around here again, *you* show up! You know what they say about Amiright: You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave. Good to hear from you again. Now where's Bob Gomez?

RJP: If you don't like the Hillary jabs in this one, just wait till you see "Hillary '08, I Am" and "Chelsea's Mom." But, hey, you and I both know she'll win it. As for Mitt, yeah - he'll pick up more votes in the Utah primary than all the other Republicans *and* all the Democrats combined. I've got one about him on the CD too, by the way:
http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/allansherman18.shtml

Michael: I finally understand where you're coming from: Yankees=Blue, Red Sox=Red.

Jackie: Wait till you HEAR it.

Tommy: Barring some 11th-hour scandal, things won't change. It'll be Clinton/Obama over Giuliani/McCain by a narrow but uncontested margin. Ron Paul will be left to fill the Ross Perot role.

Alvin & AFW & Phil: Thank you, thank you, and thank you.

Kristof: And of course you're just the man to write that. And/or to move to Vanuatu.

Bob: My money's on the dork.

Thanks Spaff - It is so nice of you and all the others who have welcomed me back with open arms. I have some joy back in my life again. Hadn't had that in so long, even when I was writing before I left, this version of joy was really not there. I love the comradery that this fine site affords.

Spaff, OK, I just received my "Politicked Off," and I can see (hear) that Mike Agrelius is a talented parodist. But Claude Prez is going to be heartbroken when he learns that you collaberated with someone else, and not with him.
Claude Prez - October 30, 2007 - Report this comment
Actually, I am heartbroken. Heartbroken that more people aren't buying "Politicked Off". I received mine over a week ago and still can't get enough of it. Fantastic stuff, and with both the holiday season and a big ol' election year coming up, I can't imagine a better gift for anyone remotely interested in politics. Or like me, who hates all things political and love to see both sides skewered with brilliant glee. The short version of my review: Hail to Spaff, YO!

Funny one! Please - no female dork...lol! 5's

New comments from Guy AND Adagio? It really *is* the good old days again!

Johnkins: I'd happily collaborate with Claude Prez, but the man needs no collaborator. Asking him would be like asking the pope if you could collaborate on some blessings. Some trivia, though: On a vacation I wrote a parody of "My Girl" called "Midol," and returned to find that the idea had already done by - you guessed it - Claude Prez:
http://www.amiright.com/parody/60s/temptations2.shtml
I loved his and wanted to get in on that action, so with his permission, I blended the two versions. Here's the result:
http://www.spaff.com/poesy/midol.html
I keep hoping Robert Lund will record it, but it must be his time of the month.

Claude (speak of the devil): I wish everyone understood as well as you do that it is absolutely essential to own THE NEW ROBERT LUND CD "POLITICKED OFF!"
