~ ~ ~ (intro) ~ ~ ~

[during intro] -
[T sings]
"{Where ees dee Plaayyne?}
{Where ees dee Plaayyne?}
{Wait for dee Plaayyne}
{I want dee Plaayyne}
{Where ees dee Plaayyne?}
{Where ees dee Plaayyne?}
{Where dee heck ees dee Plaayyne?}
{Where ees dee dat damn Plaayyne?}"

Listen for the engines
look to the skies
In his little white suit
Yeah, it's him; that small guy

And as he comes running out
He looks up and then exclaims
[T sings] "Here eet comes, Meester Roarke
Bauwth, eet's coming now
'dee Plaayyne'..."
Yes, that plane is coming down
and you hear Tattoo exclaim
[T sings] "Yeth, eet's coming, Meester Roarke
Bauwth, eet's coming now
'Dee Plaayyne'...
{Come, dee Plaayyne}
{Here - come dee Plaayyne}
{Here ees dee Plaayyne, Bauwth}
{Coming down ees dee Plaayyne}"

Mr. Roarke gives orders
to his Work Staff
"Places, everybody
smile and make them all laugh
When the Plane lands
help them off - then give them hats"

Mr. Roarke talks to them now
Always Eloquent; such Grace
"Welcome friends, on this Island
worries gone; without a trace
On our Island we exist
just to put smiles on your face
Here on Fantasy Island
we'll indulge your every taste
On our Island paradise
far removed from the Rat Race
Here on Fantasy Island
all your troubles are erased"
{without a trace}
{gone; they're all erased}
{We'll indulge your tastes}
{Far from the Rat Race...}

(Instrumental break)

[during instrumental break]
[T sings] "{Bau-aw-awth, eet's coming now, dee Plaayyne}
{Wee-ee-eeth all dee guests who are stayin'}
{Bau-aw-awth, I weel go greet dee Plaayyne}
{Now-ow-ow all dee guests weel dee-plaayyne)
{Wee-ee-ee help dem get off dat Plaayyne}"

Plaayyne, brings all dee guests here
(Greeted here by Tattoo)
Plaayyne, all dee guests are here
(Met by little Tattoo)
Plaayyne, dat's how dey got here
("Hello, folks", says Tattoo)
"Yay-ay-ay, like to have guests here"
Weird dude, little Tattoo....

Great idea and execution. How is it that Ricardo Montalban had an Irish name and a heavy Hispanic accent on that show? 555

MasonR, Rick C and alvin - Thanks - Rick C - actually, I think Mr. Roarke was supposed to be more of a "Educated Man of the World"...although it's quite easy to think of the character as being perhaps from a Spanish-speaking locale...but, hey, the guy had a weird, little dwarf as an assistance who dressed in the same type of suit...so maybe there's something "different" to the whole scene...{Obligatory & additional 'PC' remark here - I have nothing whatsoever against dwarfs or any other people, little or otherwise}...lol...

Thanks, Larry...I can't claim to have been a regular viewer myself, but that show was somehow sort of ingrained in the American Popular Culture at the time. I THINK most everybody knew something about it...maybe not....
