The Lyrics

The original song was written by Laura Nyro. She is known one of the most importiant female songwriters of the late 60's into the early 70's era of rock music. She also wrote other classics such as "Eli's Comming", "Stoned Soul Picnic" to name a few.
KIDS,...
I love you so, now find new digs
All I see are stacking piles, of your laund-rey ( of lawn-drey )
Am I ever gonna see graduation day ( grad-u-a-tion day )

Dreaming of that condo, that I'd be choosing
On the beach with a sandy lawn, but since you ain't moving
All the food in the fridge is gone, and your rooms are landfills

KIDS,...
I love you so, please find new digs
In your voices I hear choir, for dinner bells (din-ner bells)
Would ya leave those sneak's outside, they really smell ( real-ly smell)

I assure you mom and dad, will never get lonley
beneath potato couch, found some baloney
Till then I'll carry on, and write you into my will

KIDS,...
I love you so, please find new digs
That campus has great dorms, wow-o-wow (wow-o-wow)
Thought I'd get my hopes up, anyhow (any-how)
Time to move it right along on there, my adult KIDS

Will you find a new crib
Will you guys ever move
Can you get some new digs
Can you do it real soo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oon

Well done Diva

Thank you, Royce, Pat, Merry & Wdh. Most parodies I write solo are about situations that I have observed or fictional charaters. This one is much closer to home.

Diva? PM me.?..same name on the messageboard.

Glad you mention Laura Nyro. She was one of the greats.
Diva - September 21, 2003 - Report this comment
I research songs when I search for lyrics. I was quite impressed with Laura Nyro's biography. Sadly she died at the age of 49 of Ovarian Cancer. Many of us enjoy music without understanding it's true beginning, the original songwriter.

Ok Adagio, I didn't know that was your preferrance, sorry about that.

Still Pat, if that was what you were talking about (?)

I Don't understand Pat, What were you asking me at 11:16 PM? I thought you were asking me to address you as Adagio.
Adagio - September 21, 2003 - Report this comment
Diva..I just wanted to maybe once in a while, if it is okay, to get in touch with you and/or Wild Man on the messageboard. I was saying Adagio, because that is my name there.
Billy Florio - September 21, 2003 - Report this comment
Laura Nyro's best song is still "and when I die", which of course was made a classic by Blood Sweat and Tears

Pat , Which messageboard? This one? or the other Messageboard under the heading : Other Stuff ? I'm not registered to use the other messageboard, should I sign up?
Billy, Thanks for your comment, I learned Laura Nyro by accident, just read about her the other day. I loved her songs all thease years and never had a clue that she was such an influential songwriter until now.

Diva...yea...the one under other stuff...I guess to post there, you have to be signed up(I think).
Diva - September 21, 2003 - Report this comment
Ok Pat, I'll see about signing up. Talk to you over there.

Yeah, I feel your pain; I think it's about time my kids moved out (I guess I can wait til they finish grade school) Anyway, very good job.

Thanks Claude for your comment.

Pat , I'm having trouble with the other messageboard, I can't get signed in. The server is slow and freezes up, but I'll keep trying.

Pat: No matter what I try, I'm not able to sign on the messageboard. It just freezes up each time I try to log on.

Diva...see if as guest you are able to post and ask Chucky what the problem is. Either that or here...thought he would notice...:/

I even tryed to sign on the YaBB gold mainboard. Perhaps it's my computer securtiy software? I'd probably have to enable or disable some program. I'll ask WM if he knows what the problem is. Your comments or questions are always welcomed. I appreciate all the feedback you've given. I don't mind using this board, as long as the other authors don't think it's a disruption.

Pat!.. LOL I was looking through the comments. Between the virtual -Hair Commercial- and the Alien Ant Farm comments. I think any conversation we may begin will be pretty benign in comparison.

I feel your pain, D. If I had kids, I'd give 'em five years, tops.
Adagio - September 23, 2003 - Report this comment
Diva...ever wonder who's an adult here? :D I've been shocked to see that some that I thought were adults are still kids! geez!
Ethan Mawyer - September 23, 2003 - Report this comment
in case anyone was wondering i'm 21... so i'm kinda between being an adult and a kid
Diva - September 24, 2003 - Report this comment
Spaffy, probably a good thing you don't have kids in that case. LOL... Thanks for sharing my pain
Pat: Yes, I do sometimes wonder authors ages. It's not importiant if we are all young at heart. If I ever write a biography I'm leaving out my birthdate. Why have't you written a biography? You qualify after 25 parodies.
Ethan you young people amaze me. You have written some very nice works.
Adagio - September 24, 2003 - Report this comment
Diva...some of the authors are 10, 16, something like that. I assumed older because of their parodies, which seem older. I'm in no hurry to write a bio., and like you...they'll just have to guess at my age!! lol
Diva - September 24, 2003 - Report this comment
Pat...I wonder if the young people know how fortunate they are to have the internet, and this site. When I was young, all my poetry was hand written in a wire bound note book.

Pat... Yes, I agree. Hopefully, they will see that the world is their oyster.
So Pat, who are your favorite musical infulences? Do you have a favorite singer or group or style of music?
Adagio - September 25, 2003 - Report this comment
Diva... I think I have a true mutt of musical tastes...it varies anywhere from Stones, Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, bluegrass and classical. Not to mention just about every other artist...depends on the song. I'm just not too crazy about country, I'd rather have bluegrass..like "Soggy Bottom Boys". Nuff about my musical stuff...I just like music...what is your preference?
Diva - September 25, 2003 - Report this comment
Overall, I like Pop Music most. That's why I selected "Diva" as a name. When I was a teen my favorites were album oriented artists: Led Zepplin, Beatles , Rolling Stones, Eagles, Moody blues and so on. What you'd call classic rock today. I've always been a huge fan of Tina Turner. My favorite Disco singer is Donna Summer. And my fav Country singer is Wynnona. As for Pop Groups : Journey is my fav. I do enjoy some more recent arrivals such as Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam. Hope I'm not boring you....
