One of the tragic incidents that set the Middle East on a course of never ending conflict was the shooting of King Abdullah bin Ali of Jordan, the one Arab ruler who acquitted himself well in the 1948 war with Israel and who also wanted to make peace with Israel. His father was the last holder of the title "Sharif of Mecca". Which is why I will refer to him as Bin Sharif because how else will I make this stupid thing work? ... Work with me here

There was a highly coveted office in Islam known as "Sharif of Mecca" ... that is until the Saudis took over and abolished it and named themselves "Protectors of the Holy Places." ..... My original idea was "I Shot al Sharif (But I Did not Shoot The Wahhabi"), but it didnt work because it wasnt historically accurate. The Saudis didnt shoot Sharif Ali Hussein; they just deposed the degenerate, decrepit old bastard and sent him packing
