Parody Song Title:

"Always Getting Fined"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I just found out that Brenda Lee was actually the first to record this classic, written by Mark James, who also wrote Elvis' "Suspicious Minds." Elvis never released it as a single, although Willie Nelson and the Pet Shop Boys did, with fine results. Shakira did a mean version of it, too. Like Elvis', her hips don't lie. Narrator: The manager of a baseball team who's constantly arguing an umpire's calls, getting thrown out of the game, and then getting punished by the league office.
(instrumental break)

Maybe I didn't treat you
quite as good as I should have.
But the way you've umpired
ain't as good as you could have.
Little things like calling balls and strikes
you get right only half the time.

And I'm always getting fined!
(I am always getting fined!)
Yes, I'm always getting fined.

Maybe you didn't realize
my runner was safe at first base.
And I guess I'm glad I told you
you got it wrong in the first place.
If you screwed up at second base
man, I ain't sorry, and you're blind!

And I'm always getting fined!
(I am always getting fined!)
Yes, I'm always getting find!

Tell me
tell me that your eyesight hasn't died.
Give me
give me umpire crew who'll leave me satisfied!
Satisfied!

(instrumental break)

Little things like calling balls and strikes
you get right only half the time.

And I'm always getting fined!
(I am always getting fined!)
Yes, I'm always getting fined!

(instrumental break)

I am always getting
fined!

Maybe I didn't treat you
quite as good as I should have.
But the way you've umpired
ain't as good as you could have.
Maybe you didn't realize
my runner was safe at first base...
(fadeout)
No! The fade was safe! Safe, I tell ya! Come on, ump! Just 'cause it's a night game doesn't mean you should be asleep! How many fingers am I holding up? (One, and for showing me THAT finger, you're outta the game!) And you're outta your mind, Blue! Where'd you get your umpiring license, a Cracker Jack box?

Though I'm not too familiar with the baseball theme, Mike, you described a universal truth...in every field of professional sport, there will always be a red-faced manager being dragged away by security. 555
