The Lyrics

An honest question for anyone who supports Trump as president: what does he have to do to make you think "maybe this person really isn't suited to be president"? For me, there's any number of things that draw me to that conclusion: how he speaks and what he has said; who he has chosen to speak on his behalf and as cabinet picks; his outright nepotism, corruption and moneymaking.. so many things one has to ignore in order to maintain that support. So what would it actually take to change your minds? And a question for the non-Trump supporters: how many do you think will answer the above question rather than simply post abuse in the comments?
What has he got to do to make you rethink?
What has he got to do to change your mind?
What depth of pay-to-play corruption?
What do the FBI have to find?

What could he've done to make him a defendant?
What're we gonna find out has occurred?
What could ever make him be repentent?
When "Sorry" seems to be the hardest word

It's mad, and bad
#sad situation
And it's getting more and more absurd
So mad, I'm scared
I wish that it was over
Oh it seems to me
"Impeachment" seems to be the hardest word

How many Goldman Sachs ex-bankers?
How many millionaires preferred?
How many conflicts of interest?
"Corruption" seems to be the hardest word

He's a cad, and bad
Eric's dad's situation
And it's getting more and more absurd
So bad, I'm scared
I wish that it was over
Oh it seems to me
"Impeachment" seems to be the hardest word

When do you start believing that he's lying?
When will you finally be deterred?
When will there be no more denying?
What has he got to do?
What has he got to do?
When "treason" seems to be the hardest word

Basically, he would have to become Hillary.

On your bike, Phil.

@Trump Supporter - do you seriously mean that? You really don't mind if your president lies about, well, *everything*, is breathtakingly corrupt and possibly even treasonous, just as long as he doesn't have a sex change, marry Bill and host his emails on a private server? Is there really nothing he could do that would make you stop supporting him?
Trump 4eva - May 15, 2017 - Report this comment
Nope. Trump's done more in three months than Obama did in eight years. Where is solid evidence that Trump colluded with the Russkies? There's none. Hey, but jobs are up, unemployed down, record stock market highs. Trump meeting with corporate America to create tens of millions of jobs. No TPP. The pipelines going through. New healthcare coming. A stand against Assad, MOAB dropped on ISIS, and N Korea served notice that Trump will stop his nuke program by force if necessary. Got China to stop exporting to that perverted hermit kingdom. New bills supporting Vets, Law Enforcement, and got a Supreme Court judge that is a Constitutionalist! Damn! Add deregulation and lower taxes coming for the rich and middle class. What more you want, boy?

Good work, Phil. I am not a Trump supporter, but I think he has done some good things including nominating Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court and ratcheting back some overregulation. In general, I prefer businesspeople over attorneys for cabinet and other positions, so I am OK with most of his appointments. But I am not comfortable with his tweets, his wall, his protectionism, and I don’t think that the Afghanistan MOAB or the Syria missile strike were particularly good ideas. I did not vote for him in the California Primary or the national election and I can’t imagine that I ever will, but impeachment considerations seem very premature.

@Trump 4eva: What more do I want? Maybe a president who actually has some idea of what the job entails, isn't a petulant little baby and doesn't change his story every day. A president who can speak in coherent sentences, knows which country he's firing missiles into, doesn't pick the most inappropriate ex-Goldman Sachs or rich donors for cabinet positions. A president who doesn't use his family to make money from the presidency and play golf more in a month than he complained about his predecessor doing in a year. And that's ignoring whatever might come of the Russian links. In short, a president rather than a whiny little snowflake.

@JJ - impeachment will happen as soon as the Republicans in Congress think he's going to cost them their jobs, and not before. You have a strange setup over there, where impeachment proceedings are political rather than judicial, so if you have a party in power that values party loyalty over patriotism, I guess that's what happens.

^ Phil needs to worry more about his small, poor insignificant little island nothing of a country with a symbolic antiquated monarchy than the greatest nation on earth with the greatest leader of the Western world. Trump is a unique pick because of what he's not-part of establishment politics and he's new to government as well. His family and assets are high which create more legal problems, not like your monarchy that steals from your citizens and lives an even richer, spoiled lifestyle than Trump's family. You don't have a nation of nearly 325 million who are deeply divided, even before Trump was elected. And, of course, Trump inherited Obama's 20 trillion in national debt, the bad Iran deal, inaction against both Syria and North Korea, a broken down military, bad treatment of our veterans, and imploding Obamacare. So WTF do you know of our national problems and corrupt government Trump has to deal with? Nothing, you snobby Brit leftist, socially-obsessive cretin! Shut your gob.

The millions of people worldwide and throughout time who have found comfort in supporting self-styled strongmen, when democracy and separation of powers (e.g., an independent judiciary) are the alternative, are probably congenitally predisposed to magical thinking and irrational fear and hatred, or have been made so by a pathological early environment. Whether Phil puts his trust in the commonweal or in the evidence supporting the usefulness of GMO, he is wearing himself out fighting a common human flaw: fear of uncertainty. The faithful who would forgive Trump shooting somebody dead on Fifth Avenue will, at a minimum, praise alleged achievements of their Master (Mussolini got the trains to run on time; Hitler revived the economy; Trump alone will create millions of jobs). Trump is the latest manifestation of the sad human condition, but even worse: he's not even our very own authoritarian. He is, in effect, a spy for the Russian strongman who pushes his political opponents out of windows. Trump is an unwitting, ignorant sociopath afflicted by logorrhea. I pity you, Phil, for tilting at windmills. I am sad that your critics represent a dead-end branch on the evolutionary tree.

@Phil Alexander Well, if he were to become Stalin, or Castro, or one of the Kim Jongs, or Chavez, or Mugabe, or Maduro, or Pol Pot, or Ahmadinejad, or Idi Amin, or Al Gore, or any other celebrated mass-murdering leftist "hero" of yours, that would also qualify him for impeachment.

@Americans for Trump – Rob Arndt, why do you always disguise your mad-dog, ad hominem comments with a pseudonym? Be proud of your hatred. You are master of your stupidity. Own your insanity. Take an oath to it, so help you Trump.

Within a generation, the Muslim invaders bearing as many as a dozen children per family while sponging off the generous handouts of your miserable failed welfare states are going to be raping all of you childless European socialists to death both figuratively and literally. Londonistan, for one, is already filled with "no-go" zones for non-Muslims that are only likely to expand to the rest of the U.K. with time (especially with that Muslim mayor you've got in charge now). Deal with your own problems before you try pretending (not very convincingly, I might add) to care about us, Phil.

Let's say Realpolitik knows no such concepts as "right" and "wrong", it knows only "success" and "failure". Politics is a completely amoral thing and suitable only for psychopaths.

So far the worst POTUS ever has been Warren Harding, with James Buchanan (who drove US into civil war) on second place. But the achievements of Donald Trump during his first 100 days certainly are not convincing. Which is worse form of statehood, theocracy or plutocracy, is IMO a matter of taste.

The parody itself was enjoyable and while I don't agree of all what Phil said, I liked it. Fives.
Henry A. Kissinger - May 16, 2017 - Report this comment
I worked in the Realpolitik Division of the State Department for a certified psychopath. A case can be made, based upon him being the only POTUS forced to resign, that he was the worst president.
As a wartime British prime minister once observed, "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others." What the U.S. now enjoys is an oligarchy with a touch of kleptocracy, a shmear of autocracy, and a dab of nepotism, topped by two scoops of ice cream.
Power is supposed to be the greatest aphrodisiac, but I can tell you that at 93, not so much.
Scared Stiffless - May 16, 2017 - Report this comment
The worst thing has nothing to do with democracy. It happens when you've been sitting with your legs crossed for a long time and then, right afterward, you think your POTUS has fallen off. No feeling in it. No feeling at all, I tell ya!

This parody, like the deceased doctor's blog, is junk. Trump has done nothing impeachable. Just desperate Democrats stripped of power trying to make something out of nothing. Gives a reason for the media to get ratings and for losers Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Elizabeth Warren, and the rest to make speeches fantasizing about the Mid-Terms and prospects for 2020.
