"Jesus Got Worked Over, He's In Pain, Here"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

jesus got worked over, he's in pain, here
prayin' in the garden...he was seized
you might think that christ is not the savior
but as for me and laz'rus...we believe

he'd been causin' too much trouble
and they said he had to go
now, he's left our congregation
will we meet again ?...i have no way to know

when he woke, in jail, that mornin'
it was clear, he'd been attacked
crown of thorns around his forehead
and incriminatin' whip mark marks on his back

jesus got worked over, he's in pain, here
prayin' in the garden...he was seized
you might think that christ is not the savior
but as for me and laz'rus...we believe

now, we're all so proud of jesus
he's been takin' this so well
cause he says he's bound for heaven
though, the romans think the man should go to hell

it seems empty without jesus
mary m. is dressed in black
and we just can't help but wonder
will our dear lord die, or is he comin' back ?

jesus got worked over, he's in pain, here
prayin' in the garden...he was seized
you might think that christ is not the savior
but as for me and laz'rus...we believe

he'll return, if he is able
if he does, i'll flip my wig
though, he told some real good fables
seems to me, it was a pretty thankless gig

i think christ is the messiah
now, his min'stry's on the shelf
wished i'd kept him from this violence
and if he ends up slain, i blame myself

jesus got worked over, he's in pain, here
prayin' in the garden...he was seized
you might think that christ is not the savior
but as for me and laz'rus...we believe

Reminds me of a grandpa that would not let this song play around grandma. Something about it being unkind to grandma or wishing ill of her. Great job.

Thank you for a very well written piece, Alvin. It might have been a thankless gig at the time, but every day a lot of us Christians are still giving thanks and praise for the sacrifice. A minor criticism is that it was the Jews more than the Romans who accused Jesus of blasphemy and implying that he might be destined for Hell.
