The Lyrics

OH YEAH!!!!!!! My 10th parody!!! Now I'm gonna be on the Parody Authors list! Anyways, this parody is basically like my Moskau parody: a practical English translation of the song. The original song was Dschinghis Khan's first song, the one they sang at the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest, representing Germany. They only got 4th place out of 20 (Gali Atari & Milk & Honey won 1st place with the song "Hallelujah", representing Israel), but this song is now considered a classic. This song is basically about Genghis Khan & his freedom with conquering, women, & such.
(Hoo! Ha!)
(Hoo! Ha!)
(Hoo! Ha!)
(Hoo! Ha!)
(Hoo! Ha!)
(Hoo! Ha!)
(Hoo! Ha! Hoo! Ha! Hoo! Ha! Hoo! Ha!)

He'll race on with the wind & leave you all behind,
He'll be gone!
(Ha! Hoo! Ha!)
And all who follow in his dust may end up blind,
Genghis Khan.
(Ha! Hoo! Ha!)
The hooves on his horse whipped up huge clouds of sand,
He stirred up fear & terror in every land.
And thunder & lightning wouldn't hold him up.

(Hoo! Ha!)

Geng-,
Geng-,
Genghis Khan!
Hey Rider! Ho Rider! Hey Rider! Always ever!
Geng-,
Geng-,
Genghis Khan!
On brother! Drink brother! Pull brother! Always again!
Load up on some vodka,
(Ho, ho, ho, ho!)
For we're in Mongolia,
(Ha, ha, ha, ha!)
For the devil fights early enough.
Geng-,
Geng-,
Genghis Khan!
Hey Rider! Ho Rider! Hey Rider! Always ever!
Geng-,
Geng-,
Genghis Khan!
Hey there, man! Ho there, man! Let's dance, man! So for ever!
And man hears him laughing,
(Ho, ho, ho, ho!)
They rhymed the same word again,
(Ha, ha, ha, ha!)
And he emptied jugs within a puff.

And every girl that pleased him would be taken down to his tent.
(Ha! Hoo! Ha!)
There wasn't a woman who didn't give him their love, there's no scent.
(Ha! Hoo! Ha!)
He fathered seven children within 1 night,
And all the ladies thought he was dynamite,
For no one else had power just like his.

(Hoo! Ha!)

Geng-,
Geng-,
Genghis Khan!
Hey Rider! Ho Rider! Hey Rider! Always ever!
Geng-,
Geng-,
Genghis Khan!
On brother! Drink brother! Pull brother! Always again!
Load up on some vodka,
(Ho, ho, ho, ho!)
For we're in Mongolia,
(Ha, ha, ha, ha!)
For the devil fights early enough.
Geng-,
Geng-,
Genghis Khan!
Hey Rider! Ho Rider! Hey Rider! Always ever!
Geng-,
Geng-,
Genghis Khan!
Hey there, man! Ho there, man! Let's dance, man! So for ever!
And man hears him laughing,
(Ho, ho, ho, ho!)
They rhymed the same word again,
(Ha, ha, ha, ha!)
And he emptied jugs within a puff.

Good translation so 535 (not funny but that's OK). Here's a bit of trivia for ya: A Yiddish parody of this song, called Yidden, was written by an Israeli singer, Mordechai Ben-David, and is one of the most popular songs these days at Orthodox Jewish weddings!

Thanks for your appreciation. It's not an exact translation (if it were, it'd be outta whack), but really dang close. And besides, 13th century Mongol conquerors aren't a real funny subject (but a good subject for a song, nonetheless). I looked up the lyrics for Yidden, & the website I viewed them on credited the writing to that guy, & the music to "German Band" (Dschinghis Khan of course). The language (Yiddish) looked similar to German, & the pacing didn't look clear from reading the lyrics, but I'll get it once I see a video of it. Also, thanks for voting & commenting on this parody. Though popular in Germany, a bunch of Europe, & parts of Asia; Dschinghis Khan is a wicked obscure band here in the USA (except to those who know Moskau, of course), & it makes me feel good that I've made people aware of this band. Trust me, even though they're German, they're worth a look (especially Moskau).

Dylan, your parody re-popped this song on my mind. It was very popular in Finland in my childhood - far more than the winner of '79 - and Finnish rock musician Frederik made this song in Finnish (an excellent version BTW). Your song inspired me to rhyme "Ar-Pharazon" on this melody - a sound tribute for the greatest Numenorean king :-)

Well, I'm glad this song inspired you, Susanna. After all; your parody "Suicide Is Painful" inspired me to do some parodies about not smoking, not driving drunk, & not doing drugs; so I suppose the old saying "What goes around comes around" holds true in this case. I've also heard of Frederik, & I know that he did a Finnish version of Moskau titled "Volga". By the way, what is kumiss?

Kumiss = traditional Mongolian beverage made from fermented mare's milk ^_^

As it turns out, Dschinghis Khan has actually performed an English version of "Dschinghis Khan", & the lyrics to this parody are similar to the English version of the OS, only with fewer grammatical errors.

Hey, good news everyone! I found a website with MP3s for every Dschinghis Khan song! Go to 81.26.155.206/music/Dschinghis_Khan/ if you're interested. Also, go to www.steppenwind.com/texte.htm if you want lyrics to Dschinghis Khan songs. They have lyrics for almost all the Dschinghis Khan songs, except for most of the English songs. (NOTE: I excluded adding the http part because it would recognize the links & forbid me from posting them. Just copy these links over everything in the link bar except for the http, colon, & double slash. Chucky, please don't arrest me! I'm an honest man!)
