I tried to cover a lot of the subjects on the parodies here, but was stymied by the rhyme. Again, a really good job. 5's

Rhyming is a big issue with me. Todays "poets" see no need. Or it's okay to just get close. I could lecture about this, but if you look at the songs from even before my time, most of them rhyme perfectly, and the writers always managed to say what they wanted. Even to the novelty songs by Arthur Godfrey and Spike Jones. If you have trouble with a rhyme, change the line before it. Put it in a different place. In what we do here, I often sacrifice grammer and sentence structure for the rhyme. You can get away with a lot more for comedy. This is why serious love songs use the same old lines over and over, and why I generally don't like them. Like I said about twelve notes, there are only a finite number for every word. But that is no excuse not to find some way to work them in AND make sense. Class dismissed.

Rick, regarding rhyming, it's true that rhyming the sylables takes more effort, and makes for a more cohesive feel. But if we go back a long time ago (when the earth was very green), no back even further...to Biblical times (Wow!). David - not me, but another David was probably the most prolific songwriter of his day. He wasn't bad - all of his published work is still popular in some circles today. They're called the Psalms. You'll find that even in Hebrew, David didn't rhyme his syllables. What was important in his day was to put a concept in one line, and then do a word play off of it in the next line so that the concepts "rhymed". So in a sense "parody" was a huge part of Jewish songwriting of that time. Okay, end of lesson. See why this school has many teachers?

5-3-3, i hate donny friggin' osmond, and i loathed this song, and i don't much care for the parody either. you loaded it with just about every gay stereotype there is, which i feel is cheap and offensive, and not worthy of what you could have done with the song. don't get me wrong, i'm not gay, (not that there's anything wrong with that) that's not why i find it offensive, i feel the same way about polock jokes, or racial humor. it's also way too easy to get a cheap laugh with that type of humor, and you're really above that, aren't you? okay, i'm done preaching now

Why do people always say, "Don't get me wrong, I'm not gay" and then turn around and make sure they are being PC by saying next, "(not that there's anything wrong with that)"? Heck, you're right though sloatead, some of my best friends are gay.

Sloat, I like you but --1. You mispelled "Pollock", and if you want that cheap laugh, read "Walking on Sunspots" which is in fact based on a stupid Polish joke. (If you want racial humor, see "Baby Is Black") 2. I'm not above anything I think is remotely funny. 3. The original song hints that the girl in question is underage and that's why he wants her to go away. My version just gives another reason, and after I wrote it I decided it was funnier to read with the lisp. 4. Some of my best friends ARE gay. 5. Ironic that you used the word "preachin'" in conjunction with the themes "gay and underage". 6. If out of 360+ parodies, I make gay references 5 or 6 times, I wouldn't call that pickin' on them.
